Yeah, but that would fuck people born on February 29 out of ever having a birthday.
If you think that's a problem, consider the Hebrew calendar. There's a "leap month" that exists for seven years in each nineteen year cycle.

Imagine his much time you will save if you don’t have to reset all your clocks, the microwave, the oven, alarm clock radios, watches ….

I have many clocks. Some digital ones change automatically. The only others I change are my alarm clock and the one in the car.

I don't find that activity the reason for my dislike of DST, though. I don't like it on principle.

I'll be one of the odd guys and say I'm comfortable with the ritual of changing my clocks twice a year, but I did enjoy the text I got from a nephew this morning:

"If I was President I would eliminate Daylight Savings Time and institute "chaos hours" which would shift the clock at random intervals every few days, announced via emergency broadcast system."

Just came across this little gen:
quote:
There’s been a bit of talk about the drought lately, but has anyone stopped to think of the impact daylight saving time has had on the climate? The extra hour of sunlight causes more evaporation and therefore drought. The two states that don’t have daylight saving - Queensland and WA - are not in drought. It seems to me that we never had drought in this country before daylight saving time came along.
letter to the editor, Daily Telegraph, Sydney, Australia

I'm at a loss for words.

Come on, you two telling me this isn't sarcasm????

No, I refuse to believe anyone can be so stupid. It may be true but nope, just nope.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Google couldn't locate the Australia version, but did find it via Snopes in Arkansas

One such item quoted above was indeed published as a letter to the editor by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on 16 April 2007:

You may have noticed that March of this year was particularly hot. As a matter of fact, I understand that it was the hottest March since the beginning of the last century. All of the trees were fully leafed out and legions of bugs and snakes were crawling around during a time in Arkansas when, on a normal year, we might see a snowflake or two.

This should come as no surprise to any reasonable person. As you know, Daylight Saving Time started almost a month early this year. You would think that members of Congress would have considered the warming effect that an extra hour of daylight would have on our climate. Or did they?

Perhaps this is another plot by a liberal Congress to make us believe that global warming is a real threat. Perhaps next time there should be serious studies performed before Congress passes laws with such far-reaching effects.

CONNIE M. MESKIMEN

However, this missive was not intended to be taken literally, as its author, Connie Meskimen, is a Little Rock lawyer known for penning sarcastic letters with tongue planted firmly in cheek

Just heard on the radio that congress is getting a lot of pushback on this and sleep doctors etc we’re saying that STANDARD TIME was what was needed and not DST.

I'd be happy, if the whole state was the SAME time!

Whoever was in charge of drawing a diagonal line across the state and having different times WAS AN IDIOT.

Freaking Mike Pence and the damn time changes here in Indiana. Freaking Dr. Who "Time Lord" wanna' be.

Throw in the fact that northern Indiana borders with Michigan, which frequently is on a different time, and also north western Indiana which want's to be on Chicago time. Jeez, if you want Chicago's time so bad, move there!

It all boils down to a big mess. If some one can step up and tell me what time it's going to be for the next 12 months, I'm all for it. Time changes make me kind of wonky until I get used to it.

Boom. Exactly right.

Sometimes I get home on Friday night and after dinner I mow the lawn. I grab a beer and the ride on and get it done. Sometimes that beer turns into 10 beers. On Saturday the lawn is already done and that’s good because I definitely don’t feel like mowing.

These go to eleven.
