I'm so proud of my nursing staff at in our little Operating room! We were one of the first five in the nation to receive this award from the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). Since this is the only place I really have to brag to my imaginary innerweb friends, here's a picture (yours truly, far right).

I’m glad the link spelled out that RSI stood for Retained Surgical Items. I was thinking that avoiding Repetitive Stress Injuries was a good thing, but is it really that big a deal? Retained Surgical Items seems like a much bigger deal.

Congrats!

Congratulations! Quite a nice award to win. Pretty cool to see you so proud of your team you’re bragging about it. One of those small things that shows you really care.

Congratulations. It’s very important all pieces are accounted for.
Quick story. I had some clients. husband and wife, he was an anaesthesiologist and she was a nurse of some kind. Not that they were the ones doing actual surgery but just to add context. Anyway she had some kind of surgery and weeks/months later started having issues and turns out they had left some kind of gauze/sponge inside. She got it removed but she had all kinds long term issues over it like years later and it was all traced back to this. So that’s kinda important part of the surgery to not leave anything behind.

I'm with you. I googled and stopped at Repetitive Stress Injury as I thought it made sense. Retained Surgical Items seems like a no-brainer to try and achieve each and every time.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Thanks y'all! This is only half of us, but AORN needed a photo so we gathered what we could. RSIs are a real problem these days, it amazed me how much stuff got left in the belly.
