Daniel Penny was honored Wednesday by the Marine Corps League at an Iwo Jima Day in Boston — where the former Devil Dog received the prestigious Semper Fidelis achievement award.

The league “honored Danny for representing the Esprit De Corps of the Marines, defined by selfless service and sacrifice, when he risked his life by defending the people on that NYC train and we in turn successfully defended Danny from a prosecution that never should have been sought,” Raiser said in an emailed statement.

Speaking as a former NY resident, hopefully he has the good sense to get out and never go back. The NY system is deplorable persecuting decent people doing the right thing like Mr Penny while allowing career criminals off the hook repeatedly. It is coming to a head right now with the state correction officers striking due to the flawed policies. I won’t hold my breath on the politicians responsible being held accountable

Vance lauds Daniel Penny’s hire by venture capital firm after subway chokehold acquittal

Vice President Vance celebrated the news that the prestigious venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz hired Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran who was acquitted two months ago of a negligent homicide charge in New York City.

“Incredible news,” Vance said in a post on the social platform X, responding to news of the hire, which was first reported by Bari Weiss’s The Free Press.

Penny, a former architecture student, was found not guilty by a jury on a criminally negligent homicide charge in early December 2024. He had originally been charged with manslaughter in the death of 30-year-old Jordan Neely, a homeless man who had been shouting at passengers on a New York subway car, after he held him in a chokehold for several minutes in May 2023...
