I use a $15 energizer for flying at night. The red light is plenty to see the panel and interior well. I keep a backup but have never had one fail on me in 15 years.

I like the black diamond spot 350. It has high beam, flood, and red light. Also has 3 blue indicator lights on the side that let you know how full your batteries are. Big plus it remembers your last setting when you turn it off. I hate cycling through brightness setting. The high beam is actually a little to bright for my application when I'm in the woods.Hray
