I gather there is a whole litany of descriptions for misprints. Can anyone tell me Barney-style what this is so I can Google it?

I used to frequent this forum, when I was into coin collecting. Great knowledge there.

I believe that would be called a (partial) front on back misprint.

So it isn't the next "Inverted Jenny" (the stamp with the airplane upside down), or a "Lyson's Corner" SIG?

Did that somehow get into circulation, and if so, why was it not caught before it left the facility?

A quick Google search the day I found it said it might be worth up to $50, so no. LOL And yeah, it's not uncirculated. The item I read said simply due to the numbers of $1 bills printed, they don't get the QC that say a $100 bill gets.
