You're asking in the right place and in the right way David.

You're in Kentucky. Is that correct?
Yes sir. Been here over 2 1/2 years now and I still dont have those Kentucky blue tags. It costs more here and I havn't fit well in logistics.

I'll keep looking for something bigger--I think a minivan would probably suit David's needs well at this time.
Thats a nice car. I been looking some at used Toyota cars, vans, mini vans, even used Chrysler and Dodge mini vans. Small Toyota cars. Seen a few people took good care of.

I wonder if we have any mechanics out that way that could take a look at it.

That's a nice van too. I've seen a lot of vehicles with that dealers name on them.

IIRC, you moved to that area for work that didn't pan out.

What are your skills? There might be someone on the board looking for dependable help.

Let's figure out an employment goal/location and then figure out how to kit you up for a relocate or retrain and another fresh start.

I will help any way I can.
I moved here to Kentucky as I love this little State. Winters are not too harsh, its pretty green in the warm months and I love the Summer here. Thought I might finish out my years here as its a great State for gun people. I am questioning the value of my minor trade school education because wanting to remain in CNC work has cost me dearly. I wanted to take on line programming for CNC mills. That along with my 4 years background would put me in a good position.

David,

So sorry to hear of your plight.

I'm not sure about the strength of your ties to where you are but SigSauer was advertising for a CNC Programmer.

HERE is a link to the Monster.com ad. FWIW

They offered relocation assistance as well.

Our family has been camping for a very long time, and after reading through the three threads tonight, I can’t help but wonder if a class B or small class C would be a good option. They’re built with a lot of what one need to be self sufficient in three season living. Here’s an idea to consider:

Please know that I have no connection to any campers for sale, just trying to help. God bless.

I think the short term goal is to help with reliable transportation so the OP can find employment. Once employment is secured, he can find better accommodations. I don't think living in his car his goal and a motor home unnecessarily complicates getting him into a safe, stable, self sufficient, situation.

We've met a variety of people while RVing. Some people are camp hosts that do some work in exchange for a free place to park their RVs. They have other money they use for food, fuel, maintenance and other expenses. We met one couple with three children that seemed to be living off the generosity of others. The vast majority were retired couples, but we camp mostly in Florida during snowbird season.

I don't presume to know what will help the OP's long-term situation. I do know that a basic job at $10/hour, $400/week, beats $45/week.

Your CNC skills do have value. Master Cam has online programing classes with a cert.

If your set on living in Kentucky is it possible to commute to Ohio ? Cincinnati should have CNC work unless it's too far, I not familiar with that part country though.

Good Luck and prayers sent so you can get real roof over your head and find a better job.

Prayers Brother, David I know you were going through this back when I was in the same. That is far too long to have to deal with hard times, Sir. Your strength is amazing. I will happily kick in some assistance for you.

Keep pushing forward, you are overdue for a break.
