Glock 19 and CZ Evo 3 S1 carried in a soft side mandolins case.

I picked up two of the cases in 2017 on clearance for a great price.

My Evo fits great with the stock folded and the cases Velcro straps hold it in place. The outside zippered pocket holds several 30-rd magazines.

The case is carried easily by the handle or shoulder strap.

I have carried it many places in the case and never a question or strange look.

The magazines are loaded with the same ammunition as my Glock 19 (or any of my other 9mm handguns).

Probably my Ruger Max 380 since it will fit in any pocket and extra mags or, Glock 19 with extra mags and a Kel-Tec Sub2000 with Glock Mag capability since it will fold up and be easily concealed in a properly sized backpack and the mags can go from pistol to rifle....

I have thought about making the Kel-Tec PMR-30 a carry, it's light, holds 30 rounds of 22 WMR and I have 3 mags so that's 90 rounds of 22 wmr, no it's not 10mm but still, it's a lot of rounds.... Might be a good bag gun with the rifle

Basic AR w/ red dot that stays in the safe. P365 that comes and goes with me. If that's not small enough, a pocket .380 since it's backed up by the rifle.

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Just a fun little scenario to see what folks would do.

OK...
I really like my P229 but it's a little heavy for regular carry. The P238 conceals well and is easy to carry.

As for a rifle... maybe.
If I've got a secure office and a good safe. But the rifle would live there full time. I wouldn't want to hassle with bringing it back and forth.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I'll play...

Option 1
Glock 19, iron sights, Alien Gear IWB holster. Would keep a 33 round mag in the desk drawer to be used as a club or extra reload and at least one or two in the Vertex bag noted below.

OR

Sig P365XL, Alien Gear IWB + extra mags. Should be easier to conceal and more comfortable than the thicker G19.

Option 2
FN Five-Seven, S&W, Ruger, or PSA 5.7x28 with Varmint bullets and Trijicon RMR. Very maneuverable, easy to shoot, 20+ round mags, will dump 100% of its energy into the target with an extensive wound channel. Could easily be carried in a Vertex Tourist Sling bag with several extra mags, etc. along with IFAK. All your supplies in a single GO bag, nice and neat.

For those who claim the 5.7 ain't enough gun I have two words for you...Fort Hood, 14 dead, 30+ wounded.

Option 3
CMMG Dissent in 5.56 or .300Blk with Eotech sight. Would probably fit into a Vertex Dead Letter bag and definitely any backpack

I wouldn’t bother with a rifle. Just my P365x with light, RDS and spare mag.

My employer does allow me to carry at my workplace (My wife and I own our business... so we get to make the rules regarding the carrying of firearms at it.)

I carry the same WCV Glock 19 that I carry every day at work (which is only 1 or 2 days a week nowadays). She carries her Glock 26. As to a rifle - don't own any rifles so not something I think about. Do have a shotgun, but it stays locked up in my safe at home.

Either my regular G27 or the Hellcat.
Holsters would be a Tulster Oath IWB, a Vedder Protuck, or Galco Ankleglove.

Not sure about the rifle, but if I did it would probably be left in the safe. Most likely a 16" lightweight with an RDS and WML and sling.

Additional stuff like mags, etc, would travel in my Osprey Daylite pack.

P320 Compact Tactical with TLR-1 light.

SIG P556Xi in 7.62x39mm (this is now an SBR). Mine was one of the most awesome guns I've ever shot.

As far as handgun, probably my Kimber Micro 9 in its RGrizzle holster. The Kimber is small and disappears easily. I also know that gun very well and feel extremely comfortable carrying it and shooting it. Its magazine capacity is small at 6+1, however given the environment it will be carried in, 7 rounds should be plenty, and an additional mag of 6 should do the job. I don’t want to be carrying 47 pounds of gear at my office job.

As for the rifle, I would go with a sub machine gun. It would be the FN P90. Plenty of power, without blowing holes through everything. I’ve always liked the FN 5.7 round, so I guess that’s why I would be bias to it.

I carry an M&P 3.6 9mm iwb under a tucked polo short every day as is so I'd do that.
As for a rifle I suppose if it was to be locked into a safe and probably partially disassembled to fit in there I don't think it would be useful in an emergency situation.
I'd much prefer to have it at the ready by hiding it in plain sight like a secret compartment piece of furniture.

In the specific scenario envisioned in the OP, I wouldn't bother attempting to conceal some sort of rifle...

I'd take the $3000, buy a mid-sized handgun (e.g. P320C, P365XL or Macro, G19, etc.) with a WML, plus some extra 15ish round mags, carry them using a quality holster and belt, plus access to a flashlight and a basic IFAK with TQ, and accompany that with a solid foundation of fitness and good situational awareness. Then spend the other $2000+ on training.

Gun guys like us tend to get hung up on the guns, and which ones to buy. But having a disassembled rifle stashed in a guitar case or a safe in your office isn't going to matter if your head isn't on a swivel, your cardio sucks, you can't gunfight effectively - including shooting on the move and under stress, you don't have a solid grasp of basic tactics like utilizing cover or evaluating thresholds, you haven't done sufficient mental planning for how you would react to various different threats (including leaving before deadly force is required, if possible), you aren't capable of effectively handling/escaping less-than-lethal threats or preventing those from escalating to lethal threat situations, and you can't plug holes.

So "hidden rifle" is about #47 down the priority list for the hypothetical office worker who wants to be able to be able to defend themselves effectively.

I most often carry a J frame Airlite. They are very light, go in a pocket well, and have decent power.

carry the 365XL, and put a double barrel coach shotty in the safe - put buck shot on one side and a slug in the other, that way if the bad guy is on the other side of the wall, you can shoot a hole in the wall and then shoot him with the slug

leaves plenty of doe-ray-me for ammo

Probably depends on what I’m wearing. At work, either a P2000sk or a VP9. I probably wouldn’t have a rifle. Just doesn’t apply to me. Is an MP5 considered a rifle? Maybe one of those suppressed.

I have to register my CCW with my employer to get my carry permit for work. Yes, I have my Virginia CCW and my work one.

I carry the G43 most days in a Crossbreed holster, with a spare mag also in a CB holster. About 25% of the time I carry the G23 and spare mag also with a set of CB holsters. After 25 years of CCW I have settled on Crossbreed as the defacto choice for IWB holsters.

I have a Colt M4 SBR and a suppressor for it (sorry I know you said no, but it is what I have and carry). It rides in a discreet crossbody bag and I put a racquetball racket sticking out of the outer pocket.
