Going to Iceland in two weeks and have ordered a Vodafone SIM card available through Iceland Air.

Will I be able to just pop this into my Verizon phone (Samsung Galaxy S7) and go? Or has Verizon locked it in some way?

You should be good to go. I do the same with my HTC Verizon phone in France every time. I just get an icon in the top banner saying that there is an unrecognized sim card, but the phone works just fine.

I'm not a Verizon customer, but with some carriers it depends if you bought your phone outright or if you're paying for it in installments. When I went to Italy, I had to pay off the phone before they would unlock it me to put someone else's SIM card in it.

When I was going to China a lot, I would do this and no problems. I did call Verizon and ask them to unlock the phone. They will do this for anyone in good standing. All my research said you needed to have them unlock it, so that is what I did. Was on an Iphone 4S, not sure if model even matters as long as you can remove the SIM card.

Would not hurt to give them a call and ask. They won't/shouldn't have a problem with it.

My work switched us from BYOD to T-Mobile. I slapped a T-mobile sim into my Verizon phone & it works fine - it tells me the sim isn't Verizon after a reboot & my phone doesn't support T-mobiles network fully, but it works as well as can be expected. The S7 will probably be better supported, my moto Z2 has different models for each carrier
I upgraded in Nov, so I'm limping my phone along until I can raise enough hell to go back to Verizon, T-mobile has shit service in my area.

I have an unlocked iPhone 6s and have used it on Walmart Family plan (hey use T-Mobile), Total Talk (they use Verizon), and am now with AT&T so the phone works with them all but as others have said you may need to call Verizon and get them to unlock it for you first. Anyway good luck on your quest.
