The major issue for me is that I’m a bigger guy at around 300lbs (gained a ton of weight again) and 6’1”. I went to look at a Wrangler this past weekend and quickly decided it wouldn’t work for me because the front seats are so far forward that it made it a real pain in the ass to get into.
I’ve wanted a Wrangler for about forever now so I’m trying to see if I could alleviate this issue, and came across brackets that move the front seat back five inches.
I know there’s some people here that have Wranglers so I was hoping there would be some knowledge of these brackets and advice of whether this would solve my problem or not.

The majority of the issue was that the front seat was too far forward for me to get my left leg into the vehicle. I would need to kind of twist it in a weird way to get through the door frame. It didn’t help that I had my work boots on so I imagine it would have been easier if I had some regular shoes on.

I’m 6’4, I owned a 2008 4 door one when I was 250lbs, and it sucked getting long legs in. I was banging my ankles constantly. Traded it in towards a F-150 when I got stationed at Ft Campbell and was glad to be rid of it.

I'm 6'4" and 250 and getting in and out is a big drawback for me also. Once I'm in I find the leg room to be reasonably accommodating. I presently own an older Jeep Liberty and I don't have as much of a problem getting in and out. Maybe because it's a little lower to the ground.

Test drove one of the Gladiators, found the same problem with the doorway and interior of the Jeeps
Jeep door openings are narrow and high, getting in was ok, found the interior a bit cramped, and the same issue getting my size 14 boots through the doorway. Decided while it was cool, drove well, I didn't want to spend the next several years bitching as I got in and out of the dang thing.
Getting back in my F150 to go home I was amazed how I'd gotten used to the room it affords.

The door openings (I'm also 6'4" tall) and their notoriously poor/noisy highway ride are two reasons why, after wanting a Wrangler for years and years, I finally compromised on a Grand Cherokee.

I once sold my `1980 CJ to a fat guy. Tanker (his appropriate nickname) was up around 500#. But he really wanted the V8 4 speed. He took it to a welding shop he knew. They cut the seat mounts and moved them back and down 5 inches. Worked well for him. No one else could really drive it, but he didn't care, it wasn't their jeep.

That won't help the height problem. I've been overweight, but, never actually fat, per se, much less obese. Plus I'm fairly flexible and in fairly good physical shape overall. Getting in and out of them wasn't difficult, per se, but, IIRC, it was moderately awkward.

Are the 2 door models any better? Many times manufacturers have to shorten the front door to accommodate the rear doors. Usually 2 doors have longer doors.

I really want to find a mid-size pickup -- Canyon / Colorado, Ranger, Ridgelile, Tacoma, etc. -- that will give me enough leg room in the driver's seat. A solution like the one in the link would probably work for me. I did not see any seat relocating brackets for those trucks on the linked website, and customer "service" was less than useful.
Does anybody know of a similar product for a mid-size pickup?

Well, I'm 5'2" and had to put wooden blocks on the clutch and gas pedal of my old f250 so I could reach them... Trade you my plenty of space f250 for a new too-small Wrangler!

Funny that with my Jeep, if I put the seat where I want it, where it feels right and the steering wheel is the right distance away, I can't push the clutch all the way to the firewall. (6'4", but mostly torso, wearing 32" length pants) Of course you're probably not buying a 35 year old 5 speed, so not terribly relevant.
Just a quick update…I decided to check it out again today. I don’t really know what my problem was last weekend but I had no problem getting into the Jeep, other than not realizing that I need to duck my head in so I don’t smack it getting in. Definitely gotta work on that…
Long story, short…I bought a brand new ‘23 Jeep Wrangler Sahara today. I’ve finally gotten one and I’m so damn happy about it.
I’ll likely get those brackets someday. I don’t NEED them but I would like to be able to move back a few inches so my right knee isn’t resting on the 4WD shifter.

Awesome! I'm 5'5" (ok, 5'4" and 1/2) and I still hit my head on the frame getting in. Welcome to the money pit lifestyle! If there is a duck on your door handle, don't panic, its a thing.
