Life’s been pretty heavy around here for awhile and tired of the daily grind. Was staining the deck today and old Ben E. King came on.

I would love to just drop everything have a destination picked out but knowing that the trip getting there would be the best part.
Grab a couple of buddies, get in the truck, and just roll. While I am 37 and I think I have myself pretty figured out, maybe I don’t.
But sadly life has too many responsibilities for all that.
I’ll jinx myself here but finishing my deck is the last major project I have to do around here. Maybe after that life will settle out a bit.

I defy the Evil Queen with a road trip a couple times a week. Its road therapy that works for me.
Go for it!

For the past few years, I’ve been kicking around doing the Trans Canada Highway.

Chopper sick balls!

Sounds like fun, all my friends have moved away or we just don't talk much. I could easily put together a list of buddies from college who is love to do that with.

Wow. Then Came Bronson. As a second grader, I loved that show and it kicked off a love for bikes.

That said, the thread’s title made me first think of the later movie by that name, involving the adventure of the young boys (River Phoenix, etc). In some ways, that type of childhood adventure is more appealing. Perhaps more simple and pure?

Ultimately, regardless of one’s age and method / means, the urge is forever there but quite elusive practically. Perhaps, a desire to go back in (& rewrite) time is our true motive.

One of the best road trips we took was on motorcycles with 5 guys.

Each guy had an assigned area of the country to plan a route and sights to see. We met a week ahead of the trip not knowing where we were going. It all was factored on where the best weather for riding was.

From the Mississippi east it was rain. We left West from MN to the Blackhills down to Denver across 70 through the Rockies to the arches to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon to Taos NM. We stayed in motels, with no reservations when we got tired from the ride we would go to the nearest large town and look for a motel.

It was a fun trip with no worries about trying to reach a given motel reservation, cutting into our sight seeing time.
