I had shingles at 30 years of age and then again at 39. The last bout lasted 24 weeks. As soon as it cleared up and I was capable I was in line for my Shingrix shots.

As with anything, I would say it varies by the person. For my wife and I, the first shot was not really a big deal besides a very sore arm. The second shot made both of us feel like shit for about 12-24 hours but fine after that.

As StorminNormin says, it varies from person-to-person. I got the two-dose SHingrix vaccine last year. No problem with either dose; barely a sore arm if that. Most in the know say it's a good idea; I hope they're right.

My buddy just got his first shot about a month ago. He was sick for about 3 days. My girlfriend had both of her shots and was kind of sick.
The VA gave me both of mine a couple years ago and I didn't have a problem. Like StorminNormin posted it varies by the person. Good luck with yours

If the blist3rs are around the eye it most likely came frome the optical nerve. Get to the Dr immediately. Shingles in the eye can cause permanent eye damage and be life threatening if untreated.
I had it last year but caught it early. Treated it with anti viral meds and steroid drops in the eye.

This is starting to make me nervous. Doc says no shots, because Guillain Barré, so it's sort of like waiting for the shoe to drop.

If you didn’t have chickenpox as a kid, I think you’re safe (from shingles). I hope that’s the case for you.

I wonder if there’s an objective test to detect past history of chickenpox.

Chances are you had Chicken Pox. Most folks in their 80s have had it. If you develop a rash get seen asap. Acyclovir is an effective treatment.

As others have said. Watch the eyes. Friend of mine in mid 30's got shingles randomly. In her eye. Doctors said she came really close to losing her vision.

So be very careful if it's around / near the eye.

Hope you heal quick!

Yes, in my case low grade fever first night, took an advil, good in the morning. Injection site pain. For about 3 days it felt like i had taken a really good punch to the arm. 2nd shot no side affect.

I wouldnt wait side affects usually minor

My wife had shingles when pregnant with out firstborn. As soon as the first shot became available we both got it. When the new shots came out. We got them.
My wife is a nurse with a high pain tolerance. The pain of shingles scares her.

Thanks for all the advice.
The outbreak started and blistered in a small area on my upper left forehead about 1 inch above my temple. My first thought was poison Ivy. When my wife looked at it she also looked up Shingles, the blisters were exactly like what was pictured for shingles. Other than that small area the only other symptoms I have are a head ache and fatigue.
The area spread with red marks but no more blisters, they feel like small bumps, the outbreak seems to be in retreat.I do not have pain in my eye its more of a ache all across my left upper head, like I got punched.
Compared to others I feel my outbreak was very small.

I have wanted the Shingles vaccine for several years after hearing of horror stories from those that have had Shingles.

When I go to the Doctor I get barraged with vaccine selling. When I tell them I never took a Covid shot and never will I see the look of discuss in there eyes.I did ask for the Shingles shot but was stunned when they told me they did not give the Shingles shot, I would have to go to Walgreens or CVS to get it.
My reaction was who divided this playing field up. Another one for big Pharma and the Medical profession dividing up the spoils.

My girlfriend got her Shingles shot at Walmart.

Felt like crap for 24 hrs or so. However, having had shingles before in my 20s, the Shingrix shots were my present to myself on my 50th birthday.

My mom has had shingles for coming up on 3 years now. She has to be on biologics for an autoimmune which is why she can't quite beat shingles, and stopping the biologics is the worse option.
