Oh, is that your last word, LAST word, or REALLY REALLY REALLY LAST word?

I have a friend who was up in Maine on his side by side / UTV. Just cruising down a two track logging road when a moose decided to run along side him. He said it was HUGE and so he obviously slowed down to let the moose run ahead lest the moose just flick his head to the side and flip his vehicle. It was that close.

Had not heard his name, IndyFFL in awhile. Thanks for reminding me. No Moose in Mississippi, just lots of deer. My knowledge is limited to episodes of Northwoods Law and in the past Alaska State Troopers before it got dropped from the network. I rather doubt that there is a minimum distance to be maintained, just the judgment of whatever Wildlife and Fisheries person shows up. Down here they are reasonable unless you are in flagrant violation of the law.

I vaguly recall the OPs posts a few years back about his incident, I believe in Arizona, with his previous F150 truck and, how I came away feeling he was at least partly responsible for IIRC, the accident. Not trying to be judgemental here 2000Z-71, in Alaska, and its the first time in 60 years I've ever talked with someone up there, were you seen doing this, you could have lost your truck, 2 to 4 years in jail, lots of fines and a loss of hunting privaledges in your new State.

Minimum distance from a moose is not my concern, its how far can I stay away from any of them.
A vendor where I worked invited me up to his family's property for a camping trip. It was near a railroad track. We had to stop and wait for the train crossing, and a big BIG bull was on the track, feet planted and head down to the on-coming train...and charged it! He lost.

Our host told us if we went to the rail yards and looked at the front of the trains we'd see what was left of moose that thought the tracks were theirs.

It isn't that I don't believe you, but that was your particular moose. I looked to the internet, being the Final Authority and all.....According to https://www.answers.com/Q/How_fast_can_a_moose_run, and I quote " A moose can run up to 35 miles per hour without a fmf exhaust ".

Wonder how fast a moose with a FMF exhaust can run? Does anyone have access to an uncorked moose we could put on the dyno?

I knew of someone who ended up with brain damage after her car was charged by a moose (VW bug, no challenge).
Whenever I was out and about with my boyfriend years ago, if we saw a moose on the freeway, he’d slow to a stop, throw it in reverse, and get the f out of dodge. Amazing animals, just nothing to mess with.
