M1GarandyWon't be long until it snows, need a new brass edge brush/scraper.
Last winter the Ace Hardware branded combination brush/scraper finally died. The brass edge broke off after an ice storm. I got roughly 22 years out of it so I got my money worth.
The unit in question is identified as "Storm Performers" if memory serves. Does anyone make (preferably in the USA) an old fashioned brush/scraper combo with a brass scraper edge?

ffipsI was a fan of that style scraper until I had one that scratched all glass it was used on. Be careful.

41Some the best ones are made out of plexiglass which is about 1/2 inch thick. I still have mine from the early 60's and made in the shop at DuPont by some employees.

zoom6zoomI think the two I have are actually bronze blades. Just scrapers, I have a separate brush. Found them at the grocery store for like two bucks each years ago.

Brass (3-4 on the hardness scale) is considerably softer than glass (4.5-6.5). Likely you had some kind of grit embedded in the scraper or on the windshield when you had that happen, and the same could take place with an even softer plastic scraper that got grit imbedded in it.

I have a pair of those as well, but they are too short to do my windshield and back glass. They do OK on side glass though. Need a longer handle for more leverage.
