kimber1911Wall preference?
I disagree with Trumps reported preference on the wall.
I see a lot of holes in the see thru designs.
Trumps wall preference.Pass drugs through.
Shoot through.
Throw rope over, reach through, snag rope and tie it off.

darthfusterI prefer a 15 ft wall and a dead man's zone between it and another wall 30 ft high with bullet proof guard towers every 200 yards and twin 50s on a remote controlled turret at each tower. Render the 50s incapable of firing at another guard tower in case one tower is over run. The border would be a land of desolation.

Even the Berlin Wall wasn't that "good" and it was built to keep people IN, not OUT....

Inaction & weakness have been left at Trumps feet, now he's the person that must deal with the work of politicians.

Had the same thoughts. That design would be easy to defeat with a 70ft knotted rope.
Putting a nice sharp edge at the top would help.

Skins2881So what stops someone from throwing a rope over the fence. Using a hook to grab the end on US side, then tie it off to fence or something on Mexican side?
I could defeat the wall with 100' of rope with a rock taped on one end, stick/pole with hook on the end, and knot tying expertise on the cub scouts level.

I hate to even think it, but do you think that's what Pres. Trump has in mind? Something that will deter most, but give the determined a chance? Maybe to appease the Libtards?
Don't understand why it's not a simple, solid, concrete wall?

That would make it just an absurd waste of money....

Yep... there's probably nothing impenetrable, but the closer the better.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

1967GoatI think there's still a human element to border protection. It is my understanding that the wall is 1 piece of the puzzle. The wall design is not a magic bullet, and there will also be border agents on patrol. If the plan is to eliminate all border agents then the designs are probably not enough, but I have never seen that stated.
On the comment that you can still pass drugs through...I believe you could pass a bag of weed through the gap, but good luck fitting a 10lb+ package! I don't think they're concerned with someone passing a dime bag through.
I believe the Border Patrol requested something they can see through.

Intentionally give some people a chance? I can't imagine that was a consideration. Being able to see through the wall, has advantages, according to some, but I've not heard the specifics on that.
I can see where you'd want water and at least small animals to be able to pass through.
That being said, I bet it wouldn't take long to figure out how to get even those who couldn't climb a rope over that wall, so long as you have a few who can make it over, and enough rope.
I'm sure the first time an old lady or small child falls and breaks a leg trying to cross CNN will be right there with cameras.

Change the dimensions of the packaging and you can still get big packs through.

egregoreNot only is a wall part of a system (or should be), it will take many forms. In some terrain there will be a literal wall. In others it might be a fence, in still others, where terrain is very rugged and little-trafficked, it might be electronic surveillance only. Maybe they will take some tips or pointers from the Israelis, who have effective walls put up in several places. And just because really determined people might figure out a weakness and exploit it is no reason to not even try.

Why not a 1000% tariff on all goods coming from Mexico and the other countries as long as 1 illegal is in our country. This will pay for most of overhead they cause.

CromAs a serious cost-saving and effectivity measure, I propose randomly-deployed sniper teams along the border.
"But you can't shoot 2000 illegals crossing per day!!!"
No. Just shoot one or two, and the rest will realize we are serious!

Add a good video monitoring system, lights, and a night vision system that could be turned on and off along with the lights. Mike Rowe as a narrator.
Put it on pay for view and the system would pay for itself.
