Interesting.

The Hill) — Democratic campaign groups are slamming the Disney-owned streaming service Hulu for what they say is its refusal to run ads on the crucial midterm election issues of abortion and gun safety.

The streaming service did not run ads submitted last week by the Democratic campaign groups and has failed to give the groups a clear reason why, according to a national Democratic Party official.

The platform’s rejection of the ads was first reported by The Washington Post.

In a joint statement, the executive directors of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the Democratic Governors’ Association (DGA) said Hulu’s “censorship of truth is outrageous, offensive, and another step down a dangerous path for our country.”

Indiana abortion debate draws protest crowds, vice president
“Voters have the right to know the facts about MAGA Republicans’ agenda on issues like abortion – and Hulu is doing a huge disservice to the American people by blocking voters from learning the truth about the GOP record or denying these issues from even being discussed,” they said.

The DSCC, DCCC, an DGA on July 15 submitted ads about the GOP’s record on abortion and gun safety laws to Hulu, as well as a Disney-owned ABC affiliate in Philadelphia and the company’s sports channel ESPN. Placement for the ads was also on Facebook, YouTube, Roku and NBC/Universal, according to the national Democratic Party official.

A few days later, the ads went live across Facebook, YouTube, Roku, NBC and broadcast and cable TV but not on Hulu, without any additional information from the service about whether the ad had been approved or not. When asked for clarification, the Democrats’ vendors were told it was “content related,” according to the party official.

The committees say they did not get an answer from Hulu throughout the last and calls and emails from a lawyer for the committees to Hulu went unanswered. On Thursday, Hulu said it would accept the ad, but followed up to say the message had been sent in error, according to the National Democratic party official.

A spokesperson for Hulu did not respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

The company also declined to comment to the Post through a spokesperson. A person familiar with Hulu’s policy who requested anonymity told the Post the company does not publicly disclose its advertising guidelines, but it prohibits advertising that takes a position on a controversial issue regardless of whether it is a political ad.

The person told the Post that the ads are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

This is not the first time Democrats have run into the issue of Hulu for rejecting ads about abortion.

Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-Ga.) slammed the platform in May for rejecting her ad about the issue.

Hulu also rejected an ad from New York Democratic Congressional candidate Suraj Patel that mentioned abortion rights, Jezebel reported. The platform reportedly asked the campaign to remove at least one of three “sensitive” issues mentioned, including abortion, climate change and gun laws.

It appears that the Leftists are getting a taste of their own medicine. Censorship, that is.

But it's a Disney-owned company so we'll see...

They will be elated when they find Hulu's reasoning was that the ads were not radical enough.

Or maybe some people are realizing injecting politics into every nook and cranny is financially costly, as it should be.

Now if the ads had been promoting perversion and child grooming, Disney would have had no problem running them.

That article is jam-packed with delicious irony. How did the people making those statements not actually die of a sudden and fatal dose of irony right on the spot? Oh, ya’ll don’t like it when a platform chooses to not let you post your political views? What ever is that like? That sounds simply “outrageous, offensive, and another step down a dangerous path for our country.”

Cry me a fucking river. Roll Eyes

At some point politics needs to take a few steps back from seeping into everything. Part of the divisiveness in the nation is the rabid woke and ultra political idiots trying to inject politics into EVERYTHING. At some point people get very tired of it.

It’s hard for something be fun and entertaining when it forces you to suffer through intentionally infuriating political advertisement/harassment/propaganda.

"Gun safety" Yeah right, I am sure these ads have nothing to do with gun safety but everything to do with gun and people control.

Just a note to the folks hating on Disney: there is a completely different team of executives that run Hulu. The board of directors is the same, but the folks making the day to day decisions at Hulu are not the same ones making decisions about the parks or the Disney/Pixar shows and movies. For that matter, ESPN is a different executive team as well.

The massively bumbling handling of the issues in Florida was, as best I can tell, the Disney execs fuckup and somewhat the Boards fault for not reigning them in. The Hulu execs aren’t perfect by any means, but they seem to better understand what side their bread is buttered on when it comes to staying away from political third rails. The Board seems to be staying out of this particular fight so far, so I’m hopeful that Hulu will stand their ground and keep telling politicians that their occasional ad money isn’t worth pissing off half their paying customers.

God I hope this trend, toward greater intelligence, catches on.

If their policy is to not run ANY controversial advocacy ads, which at this point we don't know for absolute certain, it's a way better business model than most of the rest of Di$ney.

Also, it rather depends on who determines what "controversial" is, as well...

I have HULU and they DO run ads on abortion. I don't remember that group that is running the ad but it is on there and it has been running every time I turn on the tube,

“Our actions may be impeded...
But there can be no impeding our intentions or our dispositions. Because we can accommodate and adapt. The mind adapts and converts to its own purposes the obstacle to our acting.

The impeding to action advances action.

What stands in the way becomes the way.”

The PM of New Zealand recently said that the only truth is what her government says is truth. There is no other.

The Dems are again showing their true colors. If they had said censorship of opinion it might have been more accurate but instead they showed their hand.

I am sure the ads will be on just about every channel soon. I have recently seen a commercial with George Floyds sister telling us all how wonderful a person he was and now there is a memorial foundation set up in his name.
Of which you can donate to, of course.
