They did the underground 3D mapping a few decades ago, look up the EarthScope project. If you have a basement, the govt. knows about it.

Very cool, thanks.

I have to wonder how useful their definition of "urban" is, though. It's true that Texas has the population density where they say it is, but the basic divide is between big cities (about 50%) and everything from medium sized cities to rural areas. That tends to be more of a driver of politics, economics, etc. here.
