I have an Amazon Store Card carrying two purchases made this month. These are the ONLY purchases on the Store Card account.

The purchase made on Nov 14th for 696.19 has a promotional agreement. If I pay it off in 12 months, it will be interest free. If not paid off in 12 months, the deferred interest will be charged and due.

The only other purchase on the card, made on Nov 18th for 121.49 has NO promotional agreement assigned and is subject to monthly interest.

QUESTION:
If on the first of Dec I make a payment of $200 for example ... how will the payment be applied to the card balance?
A. The 121.49 purchase will be paid off first. Anything above that amount will be applied to the promotional purchase.
B. The promotional purchase must be payed off before account payments are applied to other purchases.
C. It's complicated

I could pay the entire balance off in one payment on Dec 1st but figured maybe since in consideration of interest free balance for up to 12 months on the one purchase, I could maybe let it ride with minimum monthly payment for a month or three ... or at least divide the balance up into a couple or three payments.

Thing is though, the interest rate on the dang Amazon card is something like 26.24% (prime member and get 5% back) ... so I don't want to mess around. Since I can pay the entire balance off on Dec 1st, I certainly don't want that 121.49 purchase to ride on the books for a couple of months and find interest due on that purchase. That's why it's important for me to know how payments are applied to the Amazon Store Card. Thanks !!! Smile

The non-promotional balance will be paid before the promotional balance is paid when you make a payment.

Thank you for answering my question Copefree. I've looked all over online and just couldn't find an answer. Not explained on the Amazon site that I could find either.

You can change this.

I have the same card.

Go to payments drop down and select “allocate payments”. This gives you the options of how anything over the minimum payment is applied to either promo or base balances.
