Pulitzer Prize winner Darrin Bell was arrested on Wednesday, January 15, after investigators discovered 134 videos of child sex abuse material (CSAM) on an account Bell is linked to, along with AI-generated child pornography. The arrest marks the first time an individual has been arrested in Sacramento for possessing AI-generated CSAM since it became illegal after a law change this year. Bell is known for his cartoons attacking President-elect Donald J. Trump and his supporters in the past, once claiming Trump “desecrated” Arlington National Cemetery. In one cartoon, he suggested Republicans, represented by elephants, were “grooming” children into “bigotry.” In another instance, a Bell cartoon likened Trump’s supporters—who are concerned about grooming—to Nazi Party members in Germany. I doubt he'll see any prison time. I know someone who got caught for the same thing here in CO. He paid a fine and he's now a felon, but no jail time. | |||
