2009 Honda Ridgeline (yeah, I know). In dash 6 disc CD player. Today it was changing discs and just hung up. I tried to eject and no joy. Just flashes and eventually reverts to FM radio saying "Changer Error".

Any ideas?

Thanks,

RMD

A lot of CD players will have a small hole to poke a paper clip in to manually eject a CD.

If not > you are just going to have to yank it out of the car and fix the problem or better yet buy something new.

Nothing comes up for me for "Changer Error" specifically. You probably already read these but thought I'd post them.

If it was me I would pull the head unit out and see if I could take it apart and fix it. If not I'd either replace it with a new after market radio, if one is available, or try to find a factory unit from a junk yard.

Good luck!

Warning, if you take it to the dealer for service they will most likely pull it and send it out to a regional service center. Your results may vary but most likely you will not get back any of the CD’s inside.

Speaking from experience working in dealerships.

I lost mine on the Acura TL when someone put a second disk in the same slot with a disk already there. Two disks may go in... but none come out.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

This happened in my Excursion. I got a new radio without a changer since everything is bluetooth. I play music through my phone.

Thanks all. My time is too short to worry about replacing it. I was hoping for some garage mechanic suggestions.

Try disconnecting the battery for a bit and re-connecting it. That used to "reboot" most of the in-dash ones as best I can recall.

My parents had similar happen in an 02 Accord.
IIRC, they replaced it with another of the same & had to send the error unit out to have the discs extracted.
But, this was probably 15 years ago.

Cancer diagnosis and then surgery in late May. So far, so good, but we all know the odds eventually.

On the positive side, I got into the truck today, cranked it and noticed that the radio/CD was flashing "EJECT". Out popped a CD and when I tried it, it worked again.

Go figure.

Thanks again for the ideas.

Good to see that they are ejecting on their own now.

You may be able to take the cover plate off and see if anything is physically obstructing the swing arm (the part with the laser on it) or one of the four jack screws.

The deck itself should be a removable unit if you simply want to get the CDs out and play them elsewhere.
