He was also on a really good episode of ALF (as a homeless stargazer/scientist) and had an outstanding role on Star Trek Next Gen (an old scientist from a planet with a mandatory euthanasia law). My other favorite Christmas one was the one where he gave all his fine chocolates to the orphanage and they sold them for rice. RIP Mr. Stiers. That's too bad. I enjoyed his acting. Just a few days ago, on the apparent anniversary of the final episode of MASH, I found and read this article ('M*A*S*H' Finale, 35 Years Later: Untold Stories of One of TV's Most Important Shows).
