Tonneau Covers

Need a rollup cover for my 19 Slverado , its the early model. Which is best a top mount or flush mount. How wide are the flush mount rails? Do the clamps cause any problems? I think it is the 6/6 box. Do not need locking model.

I have a flush mounted tri fold model by Bak-Flip.

I've been pretty happy with it. I've managed to beat it up pretty good and it has lost some smaller bits and parts but still is going strong.

I like being able to access my entire truck bed. I do not like having my rear window obscured with the whole cover folded all the way up.

You may want to look into some of the aluminum slatted roll up models.

I did not even consider a hard topped tonneau, not being able to load a pallet of supplies (A 4 by 4 foot cube basically) was a non starter for me. I also did not want to have to remove the cover.

I do like that my cover is somewhat secure and does keep out 97% of all moisture. I can leave my golf clubs in the back without worrying too much about them if I stop for lunch after a round.

My dad had a PE Switchblade on his Duramax. Was considerably cheaper than a Roll & Lock, and worked well. Let a small amount of water in at the tailgate corners in heavy rain. He sold the truck before figuring out how to mod it to seal a bit better.

I have a short bed Tacoma that came with a Tyger trifold that doesn't obscure the rear window when folded. Very sturdy. Built in straps that buckle in place to keep the folded cover in place.

I think they can be had for ~$200 - $225

The bed locks with the doors but anyone with a blade can get into it.

I have the RetraxPRO Aluminum tonneau cover on my tundra. I mostly like it, but it is NOT even close to waterproof and that's even if you can keep the drain hoses from coming off. If I had to do it again I'd get a DiamondBack HD .

I have the TruXedo Lo Pro Roll-up as well, and for my needs it works perfectly, the clamps are not in the way and it doesn't overhang the bed rails.

When rolled up it is only a few inches tall, and takes about 30 seconds to roll up or unroll.

While not a roll up, I have a Diamond Back that is the best I have had. Mine is the HD model and it can support 1500 pounds on the cover. The bed stays as dry as a bone too. Road trips, everything goes in the bed and is locked. Secure, dry, and easy access. Best money I have spent on my truck

My boss and I got our Toyota's around the same time, he got a Taco, I got a Tundra. He put the Bak-Flip on, I put a shell on.

When ever we'd stoped for lunch and somebody would ask about his truck, the very next question was always about his Bak Flip, he couldn't stop praising it. We got into the city occasionally and he would always remind himself of what a good decision he made buying the hard, tri-fold, instead of the older soft-type covers.

I've had 3 roll-ups in a row.

My next will be a diamondback. If you don't need 1500LB capacity on top the SE is much less and still holds 400lb on top

I have a Peragon. Love it. I can remove it completely and store under the rear seats in about a minute. Mine is lockable (Dual deadbolt) with all SS hardware. One of the best customer service companies I have ever dealt with.

If you don't need it permanently, just pick up a cheap one. I paid less than 200 for mine and it has been fine. It's a trifold, nylon over an aluminum frame. I just throw it on if we're taking the truck on a road trip.

Peragon as well, I like a dummy left my key in it once closing it and snapped the key off in the cylinder. They took pity on me and sent me new cylinder and keys free of charge.

Peragon & Bak MX4 were my shortlist when I had my F150.
Sold it before I made a decision.
