I didn’t even know he was battling ALS
I’m not a 49ers fan, but damn I loved that play...

That was a classic game. I was on the road driving and heard “the catch” on the radio. Even without seeing the play, it was electrifying.

Orive 8As a Cowboys fan since the early 1970s, I can't say that I was a fan of Dwight Clark or Joe Dakota ….
But, I would like to wish my thoughts and prayers to Mr. Clark's family, and hope that he is at peace now.

in 1982, Joe Montana connected with Dwight Clark in the back of the end zone at Candlestick Park for the 6-yard touchdown known as "The Catch," which sent the 49ers to a 28-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Championship game and a spot in Super Bowl XVI.
The play capped off an 89-yard drive that began with 4:54 on the clock. Montana connected with Clark with less than a minute left in the game.
"I remember seeing the ball coming and thinking, 'Wow, that's pretty high.' " Clark said

Ironmike57"The Catch" was captured by Walter Iooss. 1/500th of a second. I had the pleasure of working with Walter for almost 20 years. Including a SI Swimsuit Issue in the Cayman Islands. Walter was and still is class. So was Clark.

corsairSports Illustrated published an insiders look at the reunion held in Montana for Clark back in April. One could only hope to work for and ender yourself to a person like Eddie DeBartolo Jr, besides assisting Clark's medical bills, also paid for everyone's bill to come up to Montana, stay and visit during Clark's last days.
