Right now it's one nice big cedar tree and a mix of grasses and weeds. In a few weeks I'll be having Palisades Zoysia sod put in, a couple of Burgandy Cotton Crape Myrtles planted, and about a 10X8 half-circle bed put in around the tree. In the bed will be a 10X8 trellis behind the tree with either Crossvine or Star Jasmine vines (or both) and some smaller plants.

I have no desire to do yard work or care for plants, but my backyard is small and not pleasing to the eye, yet if the blinds are open in my living room, the backyard is very prominent.

Rusbro, have you considered Purple Passionflower?

Thanks for the suggestion. Those flowers are really unique.

The vines are to provide a screen because there's an unattractive building visible from by back yard and living room, so I'm hoping to stick with evergreen vines. I'll keep it in mind in the event I want to do another vine somewhere else in the yard.
