Just rolled 100k miles on the Tundra. Here comes new:
Serpentine Belt
Tensioner Pulley
Idler Pulley
PCV Valve
Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Boots
Oil/Filter
Front Differential Fluid
Transfer Case Fluid
Transmission Fluid (Drain and fill, no flush)
Rear Differential Fluid
Power Steering Fluid
Grease U Joints
Grease Front shock bushings
Rotate Tires

Brake fluid was done with last brake job so it is good.
Normally I would do coolant but it was done prior to me getting the truck and it is still pretty pink.

Now if I could get the weather to cooperate!

I just rolled 200K on the Rogue.
I changed it's CVT fluid Saturday.
It'll get new iridium plugs when they come in.
Along with belts and hoses.

I have a Falcon adjustable coil over leveling kit on the truck. The front coil overs have a greaseable bushing around the lower shock bolt.
Couple pumps of Lucas Tacky Red, same stuff the drive shafts get, and you’re good as Gold!! For another 5k miles.

That sounds like a pretty comprehensive list.

My 2014 is coming up on 80,000 miles and I am starting to think about what I will all do.

Have you done the water pump on yours yet?

I feel your pain. I just did a lot on my vehicle-Dodge Nitro, as well and if you don't have enough to do, you might as well swap out the water pump. I figured since I was there, I might as well get it done.

Dont leave out air and cabin air filters. I have a lot to do for my Sienna but most will be by Spring, which is near. I keep most spare bulbs also. Both low beams went out within a month of each other. I keep a good mini fuse kit on board also.

My F150 just hit 309k. Hoping to get at least another 100k out of it. It does use a little oil now but that’s about it. 2010 model FX4. Can’t stand the thought of having to buy another.

I am right about $500 in parts and fluids. However thanks to our good friend Chowser in sharing FCP Euros return policy, I’ll get all my money back on the fluid except the transmission fluid an transfer case fluid since they don’t sell what I need.
So after taking that credit into account I’ll be in about $300.
I have no doubt this would cost $1500+ at the dealership and $1k at an independent shop.

I do oil every 5k, transmission drain and fill at 25k, and all the other fluids at 50k.
If I do a bunch of water crossings I’ll do the differentials and transfer case earlier but I have extended all my breathers up into the engine bay and tail light so likely not an issue.

But this is a 9 year old Toyota with 100k miles so it is just barely getting broken in.

I was preemptive on the 100k mile maintenance on our 2017 Suburban...I traded it in before the lifters could go out on it or the transmission could go out a 2nd time.

My last 100k mile service, on a 2007 Honda Ridgeline, cost me $2095 at a Honda dealership in 2017.

That was for:
-Oil, Filter, and Tire Rotation ($40)
-Transmission Fluid ($100)
-Transfer Fluid ($100)
-Timing Belt, Tensioner, and Serpentine Belt ($665)
-Water Pump, Coolant, and Crank/Cam Seals ($420)
-Spark Plugs and Valve Clearance ($550)
-Front Brakes ($220)

And considering that was over 5 years ago, I suspect all that would probably be closer to $3k these days.

Right at 105,000 I had much of that done at the dealer on my 2004 Tundra V6 including timing belt, tensioner, water pump, etc. I believe it came to almost $1,000 in parts and labor. I regularly took care of all the fluids, filters, spark plugs, etc. Yeah it was a lot but then it will be good for another 105,000 miles. I ended up selling the Tundra to my son in 2015, it has maybe 160,000 last time I saw it and it runs just like new.


No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Last I saw, it was $130/hour plus parts but that's not actual labor hours, that's book hours.

That wasn't too bad but like you said, I don't think you'd be paying that these days.

Service is a bigger money maker than sales at a dealership. I've always wondered why dealers don't just sell cars as quick as they can and create a service experience where people want to bring their cars in. But it seems when people bring their cars in for service, it's a fuck fest of your wallet.

Especially when they come at you with stuff like:

Service Rep: "Your battery tested weak; we recommend you replace it today so you don't get stranded. It's only $195."

Me: "That's odd, I replaced it a year ago myself for $80, plus it hasn't had any issues cranking lately. No thanks, I'll have it tested elsewhere." (Battery proceeds to test fine.)

Service Rep: "You cabin air filter is dirty. We can replace it today for $95."

Me: "Nope, I can replace it myself for the price of an $18 OEM filter and 2 minutes of work. In fact, I have a filter sitting on the shelf at home currently."

I bought my truck in 2007. I thought it was a great deal that the dealership included free oil changes- except that every time I got my oil changed I had to go to the dealership. There ain't no quick in and out with these people, unless you factor in how they try to screw you by slipping it in and out. Roll Eyes

I'm waiting for my truck. The salesperson- a female- comes to me and says "Your water pump is going out" and offered to replace it for some obscene price, 1100 bucks or whatever.

Oh, gee, what are the odds of that, huh? My water pump goes out as soon as it gets in the service bay, but before that, no leaks, no overheating. I asked her to please just change my oil. This puzzled her- that I would want to drive away with a failing water pump.

I didn't just fall off the hay truck. Do you know- that was more than ten years ago. I'm in the Guinness Book of World Records for the slowest failing water pump ever and it's still going out. Fuckin' crooks. Mad
