I’m fortunate enough to be able to watch our town duel the two neighboring towns in a giant fireworks dick measuring contest from my back porch.
Our town does one display and the town across the river does theirs on the same night on a barge about 200’ from ours.

Fireworks displays should be funded by voluntary contributions of citizens or local businesses, not general fund or park fund tax money. There is not enough money to keep the roads in good repair, to hire enough fire and police, but spending a ton of tax money on fireworks is a prudent use of money? If you do not love your country, fireworks are not going to make you do so.
