My big tractor is the "Cabota". Kubota with a cab...sorta named itself.
My little tractor is Guido. It's a Pasquali which is obviously Italian. Again, just sorta happened.
A previous tractor, a 1938 Farmall F14 was called The Red Menace. It was extremely temperamental about starting and strained my vocabulary on a regular basis.
Only ever named one 4 wheeled vehicle (other than the generic "miserable sonofabitch!") an extremely dilapitated 1965 Chevy short bed step side. It was "BUDS" for Big, Ugly, Dirty and Smelly. "Big" was a bit of a stretch, but it definitely qualified for all the rest. It was my Stealth Rod. Slightly warmed over 350 and a Muncie wide-ratio. Embarrassed a few kids with it...
Edit: I fibbed. Had a 2001 Dodge Dakota that went by "The Duck Odor" which I traded for a 2006 GMC that got named "Kermit". (It ain't easy being green...)
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

ShaqlJust my johnson. I call it: retractable baton.
Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

clubleaf206Normally, no. The single exception is my S&W Model 19 with a 2.5 inch barrel. I was with someone at an indoor range and we were assigned lane 1, which is situated all the way to the left, against the wall. The guy I was with told me, after we were finished, that there were a couple of other people a few lanes away from us and every time I was shooting the Model 19 they would stop and look our way with a “What the heck is that guy shooting!?!” look on their faces. I laughed and said “Well, we were against the wall, so the sound would bounce off and .357 Magnums have a pretty good thump to them, anyway, I imagine short barreled ones even more so.” Since that day I have referred to it by ‘Thumper’.

whanson_wiNot only no for myself, but I don't at present know personally anyone who does. Two exceptions: I knew a guy in the Navy that called his truck "Shoulda", as in "Shoulda bought a Chevy". My late mother called her '73 Chrysler New Yorker "Big Mama"; my late father just called it a big mother.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

Some women. It's certainly not something I do, and I can't think of any friends who do. Of course they could be naming things we don't talk about, so there's that...

odinSometimes..... My FIL (88 yrs old) and I always carry and sometimes it's different pistols. I'll ask "What are you carrying?" and he might say Casey (a Kimber KC revolver)! I might say my companion is Gaston (a G19)! Walter, Smitty, the King, and other names are bantered about. It's entertaining. BTW, we shoot/train with all of the pistols we carry!

HobbsCan only think of having named one inanimate object. My Jeep has been with me for 17yrs and earned a name. Ruby

egregoreGenerally, no. Sometimes I'll jokingly nickname an old low mileage luxury car "Beatrice," but that's about it.

triggertreatA long time ago I bought a hammer and it was un named for a short period .It was a 22oz Estwing framing hammer that had a milled face. HAD (operative word) for about an hour before I took the skin off my thumb knuckle down to the bone. That was 45 years ago and I still have and use Killer.
I'm alright it's the rest of the world that's all screwed up! August 25, 2020, 06:12 PM
StorminNorminNope, never have but I don’t judge anyone who does. If you really like something, then it is very personal to you.

sns3guppyJust about everywhere I've been, there's been one aircraft or vehicle in the fleet that's "christine." Sometimes several. The crappiest one usually carries the title. Sometimes it's a toss-up.

TannerBoylI don’t normally name inanimate objects.
Usually, I call it by a variation of the model name (The Tundra, The P228, The Goldtop Les Paul).
On a few occasions, I add in a cuss word if I’m feeling particularly salty.

I do own a boat, but it's not named either. IMO, if you can put it on a trailer that can be towed without a CDL, it's not big enough to name.
