I’m hoping to be in the market for a new vehicle within the next few weeks and was considering a 2017 Malibu LT due to the incentives being offered. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the car. I took one for a test drive yesterday and loved how it rode. I get the GM Employee discount so that would help me as well.

If you come into this thread just to post that you’d never buy a GM product due to the bailout, please save yourself the key strokes and refrain from doing so.

I rented one for a week about two years ago. I'm 6'3" and 265# and was comfortable driving from NOLO to Meridian MS, which is about three hours. It's not my cup of tea, but it was solid and comfortable. My one complaint is the stock seats had no lower back support.

The model I’m looking at will have lumbar adjustment so that should address your one complaint. I’m glad to hear that it was comfortable for longer drives.

Haven't driven one of the newest ones but I do know GM had some issues with the 1.5 turbo engine the past couple years. I drove a 2016 from Philly back to Detroit once when I was living in MI and couldn't get a flight because of a changed schedule and the Pope visiting Philly. Really liked it. Comfy. GM has one of the best infotainment systems too. Only dislike was this model had the engine start/stop system and unlike my Grand Cherokee, you can't disable it. GM does the system far better than Jeep but it is still a but annoying.

Hopefully their interior quality as improved and some engineering.
My mother has a 2012 with 85k and it seems old. Makes a lot of interior noise and the seats seem worn out. Little things are starting to nickel and dime her so she is getting rid of it. The key fobs and electric locks and remote start have all stopped working so that would be a costly venture that is not worth it.

We rented one for a week last winter when our Subaru Legacy was in body shop after a guy ran into it in the parking lot.

Got the Malibu as being very close dimensions to the Subaru. There were things I liked about it, but not enough to buy one.

The engine was trick, as it would absolutely shut off at stop light, restart instantly on touching the go pedal. And it didn't shut down IF the A/C was running.

I personally didn't like the ride/handling/way it sat for me. It was quieter on the various pavements and road a bit softer than the Sub.
The driver window/seat relationship was uncomfortable for me, as I am from the era when a windowsill was meant to rest your manly elbow on while doing the slow cruise down main.

Perhaps a few thousand miles more & a couple weeks I would adapt to it. Certainly worth a longer look than I had, if you like that kind of platform. The radio/electronics were a step above what I needed.

Our daughter has one and absolutely loves it. I've driven it a couple of times and it's a nice car. A tad too low for me, but I would own one.

A friend of mine has a 2016 and raves about it. He is especially happy with the gas mileage.
