Not endless. You'd be surprised how quickly you go through money with hookers and blow. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Well on the bright side it would make my genealogy research much easier. I'll offer her a solution, for 10% of the post tax profits, I will claim the prize. The media can use my name, picture, etc... and she can go on her merry way. “Government exists to protect us from each other. Some people could certainly be happy doing just that. For this lady, I guess she just doesn't want the change in lifestyle. Having that much money is a huge responsibility. Not only are you in danger, those you care about are in danger, too. Either you suddenly have to become head of security for you and those you care about, or you have to somehow find somebody you trust to do that, and to manage all that money, and some ways your life going forward, in your best interest. I can see where some folks would be completely overwhelmed by that responsibility. Many would be stressed to the max just finding somebody they felt they could trust to handle it for them.

If I ever won the lotto, first thing I would do is put that ticket into a safe deposit box at a bank. Second thing I would do is contact an attorney and an accountant. Third thing I would do is wait for their advice before proceeding. I would not sign the ticket or let anyone know I won. I wouldn't even tell my wife until the legal matters were settled first. _____________

This idiot has no concept of the kind of privacy that much money can buy. While she's trying to figure out how she'll make her car payment next month, she can console herself with her principles and her stupid fucking attitude. Honest to God, I hope this moron forfeits the prize.

Except that the states want the publicity of big winners to attract more players, and it is their show. I think they should get to make the rules when they provide the prize. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

While I certainly agree that the lady should have sought the advice of counsel before making a mess that is hard to get out of..... But.... ya,
Still, I think she has a good argument. This sounds like a pretty reasonable solution:
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

She's a blithering idiot. End of story. So fucking stupid. Why did you buy the ticket in the first place, Oppenheimer? Sincerely, this is the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. Drooling twit.

Which information does the state get to disclose? The name on the ticket, the name on the check, or both? If her name is on the ticket and they are allowed to disclose that information the trust isn't going to do anything to protect her privacy. The intent of the trust is to have that name on everything so that one's personal name isn't out there to begin with.

You win over half a billion dollars, forget about the phone book or going to the guy/gal who did the deed for your house. Lock the ticket up in a safe deposit box. Then go online and find the list of the 25 largest law firms in the country. Call the one nearest you and make an appointment with the senior partner with expertise in Estates and Trusts. Keep the appointment and retain him. Harshest Dream, Reality
