My wife ( Turning_gal) recently lost her 10 y/o dog and really missed having a small dog around vs. our 80# standard poodles.
We located a rescued mini poodle in Florida that really need a new home. He was purchased by a women that mistreated him that probably bordered on abuse but she surrendered him to Florida Poodle Rescue. We learned that she moved 10 times in a year, that gives you an idea of the type of person she is...
We made a quick 1,100 mile trip this weekend to pick up the little guy. He is 10# for joy but afraid of his shadow and dodges/ducks when you pet his head but he is getting better.
First take a look at this little guy, what POS could abuse a small dog like that ?
Now look at the reaction for one of our standards... priceless...

Our Harley (Long Legged Rat Terrier?/ Beagle 14yr rescure (as a puppy) says Thank You. Poodles were orginally breed for hunting dogs. Remember seeing the episode of Duck Commander when uncle Si was using a White Standard Poodle as a bird retriever on a hunt.Everybody on the hunt as laughing untill the dog started working. ...........drill sgt.

Indeed, exactly what they were breed for. Just a side note, the 'pom pom's' you see on the show dogs legs was there to keep the joints warm when they went in the water.
