I was looking at the ones made by Slime and Fix-a-Flat as an option to take on the RZR for trail rides instead of mounting a spare.

It appears that they inject the repair goo into the stream of compressed air (12v compressor) rather than relying on CO2 or an aerosol.

Do they actually work?

For a simple puncture - the 'run over a nail' type issue - they work quite well.

For a sidewall cut or tear - not so much.

Out on a trail? I'd prefer the peace of mind a spare provides, along with the convenience the fix-a-flat kit might offer, and have both.

I’d rather keep a plug kit in the vehicle and have an on board air compressor. In a pinch, the slime cans do work. Plus they are cheaper.

Just remember on autos and trucks that have tire pressure monitors that using that stuff means you will be buying a new pressure sensor. Not an issue for the ATV's I know, just a caution.

Some of the injectable tire sealants may not be compatible with your TPMS sensors - if your vehicle is so equipped.

I recommend the Stop-N-Go kit, below, for motorcycles. It works well for temporary repairs.

I replaced the plug with an internal patch when I got home (usually after several thousand miles of highway riding). I never had a patch fail.

Stop-N-Go Pocket Tire Plugger with CO2

Stop-N-Go Inside/Out Patch

I carried a small air compressor for backup.

I put Slime in all of my atv tires, buy it by the big jug... I carry a small 12 volt compressor, a co2 kit and a tire plug kit... Like someone said, it won't help for a sidewall cut.

I'll second the Stop n Go kit. I personally fixed 3 tires with mine, two on buddies bikes, one on my R1200GS.
THAT one was a dandy...Brand new tire with 36 miles on it...ran over a big nail in a construction zone, with all the pavement pulled up. Sticking out of the dirt I guess. Front tire, luckily I felt something weird and immediately pulled over.

The nail was still in the tire, pushed in the plug, aired it up with my small compressor and away I went.

I'd look at the Stop N Go for sure.
