Supreme Court Rules 5–4 White House Ballroom Construction May Go Ahead The high court had previously issued a temporary order allowing construction to continue.
The U.S. Supreme Court issued an order Aug. 31 allowing construction of President Donald Trump’s White House ballroom project to continue while the administration contests a lower court order that would block much of the development.
The justices voted 5–4 to grant the federal government’s request to stay a lower court’s order halting above-ground construction of the ballroom while a lawsuit against the project by a historic preservation group plays out.
Construction on the project, which calls for building a 90,000-square-foot ballroom, began in September 2025. Building it required demolishing the East Wing, which Trump said was too small and in poor shape. The project is expected to cost about $400 million, all of which will be funded by private donors, according to the president.

Yes, it did, and I took no exception to that. My surprise was her blaming President Trump for the trade issues with Canada. It was as if our tariffs on their goods were not based on their extant tariffs on US products. She spoke as if the President just dreamed up this policy for no reason.
At least she does recognize that the President is a master chess player.

“Donald Trump announced that he will nominate acting United States Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao to take the job on a permanent basis.
The President has dealt with significant upheaval among military leadership this year, most recently the resignation of Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll over friction with Pete Hegseth.
'We need Patriots like Hung leading our Navy and Marine Corps, and I can think of no one better than him to make sure our Great Navy and Marine Corps remain the FIERCEST and BEST Force the World has ever seen,' Trump said on Truth Social Monday.
Trump also acknowledged the work Cao has been doing in his temporary role since this past April.
'The Senate needs to confirm this Warfighter, ASAP, so he can continue the fantastic work he has been doing over the past 4 months,' he wrote.
Cao would require a majority in the Senate to vote for him to take the job permanently. …”
