https://www.newsmax.com/newsfr...dkt_nbr=010504j1vi4sTrump Eyes Gas Tax Holiday for 'Period of Time'
President Donald Trump said Monday he wants to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax as Americans face surging fuel prices tied to the Iran war.
In a phone interview with CBS News, Trump said the tax break would remain in place until prices begin falling again.
"And yep, we're going to take off the gas tax for a period of time, and when gas goes down, we'll let it phase back in," Trump said. "We'll be doing something on that."
The federal excise tax currently adds 18.4 cents per gallon on gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon on diesel fuel. Suspending the tax would require approval from Congress, which has previously shown little appetite for a gas tax holiday.
Fuel prices have jumped more than 50% since the Iran war began Feb. 28, with the national average topping $4.52 per gallon Sunday, according to AAA.
Analysts warn prices could remain elevated as Iran continues threatening access through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.
Trump blasted Tehran's latest response to a U.S. peace proposal, saying Iran offered some concessions on its nuclear program but "not enough." He called the proposal from Tehran "very stupid."
The president's remarks came one day after Energy Secretary Chris Wright signaled the administration would back suspending the gas tax if it helps ease pressure on consumers.
"All measures that can be taken to lower the price at the pump and lower the prices for Americans, this administration is in support of," Wright said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

TMatsRe: The Reflecting Pool.
And, it looks like it reflects just fine (a complaint from some Dems, who couldn’t think of anything else to complain about).

Imagine that. Raise the tax on alcohol, restaurants, hotels, and spa services if you want to get congress’s attention.

chellim1Draining the swamp isn't an easy process... but it continues:
Former CIA Director John Brennan Says There are Still “Legions” of His Allies, Deep State Operatives, at DOJ, FBI and CIA
Appearing on MSNBC to talk to Lawfare ally Nicole Wallace, wife of New York Times narrative engineer Michael Schmidt – the guy who received leaks from FBI Director James Comey via Daniel Richman, former CIA Director John Brennan notes there are “legions” of operatives still embedded within the DOJ, FBI and CIA who are working against President Donald Trump.
This is not a surprise as we have noted the Trump administration continues to take apart the tentacles of Lawfare and Intelligence operatives in Main Justice, various U.S. Attorney offices, FBI Headquarters, FBI field offices and various Intelligence Community silos.
Marco Rubio has been working to clean up the National Security Council as well as the State Department operations, including USAID. Tulsi Gabbard and John Ratcliffe have been working on the NSA and CIA collaboratively, and Todd Blanche has been working through the Dept of Justice. FBI Director Kash Patel has removed about ten percent of the problem in his agency.
The core problem goes back to what we outlined on these pages and is not limited to those operatives who remain from the Obama/Biden era. Some of the problems surface as a result of ‘republican’ voices recommending “sleeper cell” staff and sketchy personnel for positions in the administration.
One way to tell if the agency head or leader understands the challenge is by paying attention to how they talk about the agency’s mission objective.
Leaders like Marco Rubio and Tulsi Gabbard have openly acknowledged the problem and are actively tackling corruption within their ranks. Even John Ratcliffe has admitted his agency was politically weaponized and has taken steps to address it. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but their actions show visible progress.
People like Pam Bondi and Kash Patel have praised the institutional embeds without drawing attention to the corruption beneath them. Thankfully, Acting AG Todd Blanche seems to be taking a more confrontational approach internally, so maybe Kash Patel will follow suit. This isn’t about style—it’s about results, and there’s an urgent need for action.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

24 cents/gallon? Wow! That would be wonderful! Now I only have to pay $5.25/gallon.

This is a political move, and Congress isn't going to go for it.
Just stop with the BS "cease fires" and negotiations and end this fucking war now. If we'd have continued for the past month instead of uselessly negotiating with those animals who have no intention of capitulating, this thing
would (likely) be over. Finish the job.

I agree, this isn't going to help DJT in the midterms.

lastmanstandingI have previously said there is one way and only one way to deal with Iran and it's culture. Trump knows what it is but civility prevents us from doing so. This culture will be a problem for all eternity until they are entirely annihilated or they rule over a world that is a burning ash. We think there is a either or but they don't.
People will vote with their pocket books absent any other logic. That's how it has often worked. It's not just gas it's the grocery store it's the hardware store it's anywhere you shop. Everything is way up. I just paid $90 for a box of 700 decking screws. This is the kind of thing that gets the lower middle class out to vote. But not in the way we would like.

I agree.
Bomb these pieces of shit until there isn’t 2 bricks to stack on each other.
It’s the only thing that these fuckups understand, so let’s make it easy on them.
The bombs fall until there is nothing left.
NOTHING! Power plants, bridges, missile assembly areas, send them all to hell. Send the dumbasses that show up to work that day to hell and they just might get the hint.
Do it quick and the pissant Demoncraps will complain but that’s nothing new.
They’re busy bitching about the DOJ using the law to go after the people who BROKE the law.

Absolutely, quoted and emphasized for truth. We're not talking about Trump's 100% supporters, those who continue to say "short term pain for long term gain", and those who will continue to vote Republicans despite being frustrated because voting otherwise is a nonstarter. We're talking those moderates, independents and fence sitters here. The longer this continues, the closer the midterm (which is only 6 months away) gets and the elephant only grows bigger. If the Rats manage to take back just the House in November, kiss Trump's agenda goodbye and expect endless hearings, investigations and even impeachment.

And the Iranians know our election calendar too...
They think they only have to survive for a little longer, and the pressure will ease.

HRK https://x.com/overton_news/status/2054320286074585225Greg Gutfeld delivered one of the most passionate and articulate explanations of why Democrats keep losing.
He boiled their entire problem down to one painful truth:
“They can't be normal because they forgot what normal is.”
Gutfeld says that is the exact opposite of what President Trump embodies.
GUTFELD: “You watch Warnock there saying, how do we talk to men? Well, try to be normal.”
“But you notice he couldn't even do that! When he was talking about it, the first thing out of his mouth is talking about well there's misogyny and sex abuse...”
“You lost us. See you later. We're out the door.”
“They can't be normal because they forgot what normal is.”
“They only appear normal come election time. I've said it before, if Democrats act like it was election time every day, they'd be normal, but they don't.”
“They can be pro-cop and anti chaos every day, but they pull the wool over our eyes for like a couple of weeks, telling us hey, we're normal, you'll like us, and then they go back to their radical stripes.”
“They could learn from Trump in a very simple way. When he entered politics, he changed the system. The system didn't change him.”
“It's the secret to your success.”
“He didn't become a Republican to be more like a Republican. He became a Republican so the Republicans could be more like him.”
Democrats forgot what normal even looks like.

Fly-SigThere appears to be a very large number of people who don't believe the Iranians were seeking nukes, or who believe Iran would never use nukes offensively.
I suggest there are more than a few who believe Iran would only use nukes against Israel, and they approve of it.
Thus they all reject the basic reason for the military action against Iran.

Israeli intelligence, the best in the world, already went on record and warned Iran was weeks away from having nuclear weapons. The fact that those people are even alive to criticize Trump and Netanyahu is because of this war. I wouldn't worry about what these people think as they are beyond reaaon.

You are correct that they are beyond reason. But I do worry that they influence others to oppose the military action. It falls under the concept of a lie told often enough will become believed as the truth. People are swayed by the most idiotic stuff these days.
