I didn't use an X account. I watched the video where Maher said that if Bergum didn't think CO2 is a pollutant, he should go home and close himself in the garage with the car running and then decide. The folly being that the car exhaust kills by carbon monoxide, CO, not carbon dioxide, CO2. My analogy being that stable O2 is necessary for life, but ozone (O3) is unstable and is a poison in the bloodstream. Just one little oxygen atom, after all.

obviously not, 03 is one more.

Obviously one and a half oxygen is better than just one.

CO will definitely do you in but CO2 in high enough concentration will suffocate you if it has displaced oxygen in the gas mix. IIR, CO2 was being considered for executions a while back.

High levels of CO2 tell your brain that you have to breathe. Earth's ratio of CO2 over millions of years is believed to fluxtuate between 1 and 4 percent.

If you are snorkeling, and do excessive hyperventilation to purge CO2, you can black out and drown because you will run out of oxygen before your brain realizes you need to breathe.

Thank you! You are correct, it was nitrogen. And I agree that first, all states should allow capital punishment and those that presently do should consider using nitrogen for executions.

CO2, too much of it, can “execute” you too. Just ask those who have died working with dry ice in a poorly ventilated, or unventilated, environment.

CO2 is a fire extinguishing system on ships as it depletes the oxygen, putting out the fire...and killing any human who doesn't evacuate the space.
