Mathematics is Racist!
Was taught that 1+1=2.

So on my next trip when I push up the power and the airplane is too heavy and we run off the end of the runway can I blame "ethnomathematics"? Is it racist to want to actually survive a takeoff?

I would like to strap that bint into my cockpit taking off out of Shanghai at 766,000 pounds and ask xhe if there are right or wrong answers about whether or not we will get airborne.

Seems a significant number of white high school students living within that high school boundaries went to private schools, as the Asian students were too academically competitive, made school too hard.

I was looking at moving to that area for work a few years ago.

They seem to take competitiveness and focus on academic success a little too far (largely driven by the parents, to be sure).

The suicide rate of students at Gunn high school in Palo Alto is appalling.

OK, if Dean wants a way to pass him, here's a way: attend class and do the homework. It's not complicated.

I require my students to be able to make a quick rough estimate of crosswind component without using an E6B. They memorize sine of 30, 45, and 60 degrees and use the closest one.

It is truly remarkable to see someone make reference to the sine of the angle of a crosswind to calculate its effect in comparison to a full value (90°) wind.

That’s obviously the same way to determine the effect of crosswinds on bullets in flight, but despite the numerous books I’ve read on long range shooting and ballistics, I do not recall ever having seen the sine of the wind angle mentioned. Countless wind deflection charts have been published (some with significant errors), but it’s as if very few shooters, even the most skilled and experienced, really understand where the values come from.

Maybe. It now appears that it all depends on what race the person is who's giving the answer. Sheesh! I never realised how hard math really is.

Locally here they seem to be still sane. I've got only one left in the system, and I'm glad she's there for only two more years.

If there are no right and wrong answers, why both teaching the class at all? Just give them an A and be done with it.

This crap is practically......racist! ODE is telling Blacks and Latinx (another silly word) that they're too stupid and lazy to get passing grades, yet along As and Bs.

Who needs math, when the "leaders" consider those who elected them (supposedly as representatives) to be "PEASANTS" instead of informed citizens?

My last 2 years of High School were spent in a school that was 2/3 minorities.

I mostly was in Advanced classes by one of them had 2/3 minorities. I sat in the front seat and when we had our weekly pop quiz, I'd pass the tests back and when we were done, they'd come back up to me.

I'd look them over and the minority students behind me would all do the same thing. They'd fill in their name and the date and wouldn't attempt to answer the questions.

When the tests were given back to us the next day I noted that the minorities all got D's

I stayed after class one day and asked the teacher why and he said that as long as they showed up for class, he was required to pass them. No wonder they end up a graduation diploma and the education of a 5 year old.

Keep in mind that Communist ideology considers “peasant” to be a social class indicating how they work and where they fit into society, not as a derogatory term. The traditional Communist lexicon differentiates peasants, “workers,” bourgeoisie, and others I’m forgetting now that way.

I would say that his use of the term reflects his basic Communist vision, and because he was willing to use the term it is just yet another demonstration that the Leftists believe they have everything wrapped up now, and they no longer must avoid expressing their true views.

This sea change began under Obama. The difference from 2007 to 2016 was massive, but it has definitely shifted into overdrive in the last 4-5 years. Everyone on the Left, from the "news" media to the DNC pols and celebrities have taken off the gloves under Trump, while blaming him for their extremism.

To be fair, not everyone can be smart. Not everyone need to go to university and be a brain surgeon.

We need people who have convinced themselves that the man is out to get them and keep them down.

I see them on the road side picking up trash and making fries at Burger King.

I have been doing this flight instruction stuff for a long time (since the 1960s). There are a lot of "rule of thumb" shortcuts that yield approximations that are close enough for real-world flying as opposed to the really accurate answers that are required for the written exam. For the written, you're sitting in a safe chair, with plenty of time to use a calculator. In real-world flying, you might be bouncing around in gusty wind conditions, with the need to make decisions quickly.

We (flight instructors) are required to state that a student pilot has received appropriate training prior to authorizing the student to make solo flights. In scenario-based oral quizzes, I set up a marginal wind condition and ask the student to walk me through the process of landing safely.

Some, most, students give me long, detailed descriptions of the textbook techniques for crosswind landings. The good students, fewer in number, simply tell me that they would divert to a nearby airport that has runways more closely aligned with the wind. Amazing, how the simple answer is so often the correct one.
