In 1978 I had a 69 Mercury Couger, four guns and some tools. I had a full-time job and was a Marine reservist. My wife worked at the same place I did, and we bought a 2-bedroom starter house. Things were tight but we always had five hundred or so in the bank. This month is our 45th Wedding Anniversary. Lock N Load Michael USMC Ret

We were so broke we ate pancakes 5-6 nights a week for supper and ate with my parents the other nights. Lunch was a sandwich and we only ate out at McDonalds off the value menu. This was in 1990, btw. Rent was $90 a week for a dilapidated mobile home in a trailer park and I drove a truck Dad gave me. As long as we were together, I never had two pennies to rub together because of her spending habits and unwillingness to work. Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.
