Good job! It's a bit of a schlep from your location to mine (X04), but if you would like to do this, it would be my pleasure to give you some fine-tuning instrument instruction in my simulator, no charge to you (karma time).

It's a great environment for dealing with various failures and malfunctions that can not be induced safely in an instruction session in the air. Fuel cost for running the simulator is about 7¢ per hour, so it beats the heck out of burning a bunch of gas.

Free parking if you want to fly in, or if you drive the X04 airport is just a couple minutes from exit 34 of the 429 Toll Road.

Simply outstanding.
My quest was put on hold last year due to a flood; my hope is to join you and finish this summer/fall.
Enjoy your great accomplishment!

Congrats. I passed my PPL ride back in 83. Finished my CFI in 2011. It makes a big difference once you can actually get paid to fly instead of shelling out for it. The instrument rating will make you much safer pilot. Blue skies..

Congrats, that's an awesome achievement! It's a dream that I always had growing up, but life took different turns and it will go unfulfilled. I'm hoping maybe one of my kids will maybe pursue it one day.

Aw come on man, it only takes time and money. Back when I did my private I didn’t have much money, but I had credit. I can think of worse things to have to pay off after the fact. Smile

Congrats! I've got about 75 hours. Making the switch from my instructor's 150 to a club 172. Once I'm good in the 172 I'll take the check ride. Hope to get it done before June.

That was actually my plan, but a little over a year ago I got diagnosed type 1 diabetic. From what I understand, I'd need a waiver to pass medical now even for a private...commercial is not even an option. Kinda glad that things worked out the way they did, actually, because if they'd gone the way I'd wanted I'd have been dealing with a forced career change and insulin dependence all at the same time, which would have been really hard. As it is, I have a job that I like (most days lol), and I've got four kids so I only have to convince one of them to grow up and fly me around Big Grin.

As I sit here in retirement looking at my log books and thinking of all the money I squandered in aviation and what I could have done with it today. I still wouldn't change a thing. Still one of the best times in my life.

A very hearty CONGRATULATIONS to you!! Consider getting your Instrument Rating…you’ll become an even BETTER pilot! [thumbs up all around]

And you had better be careful…day 1, lesson 1 of Private Pilot I had ZERO intent of it becoming a career. And here I am…… Big Grin Big Grin

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Thank you, V-tail. That's a very kind offer. I hope to be able to take you up on it in the near future.

And thanks to all for the congratulations.

Ouch! I'm sorry that you are having to deal with that. Wishing you every success in dealing with the condition.

I can't find the quote, but I thought it was Hunter S Thompson who said something like, "I spent a lot of money on hookers and blow, the rest of it I just pissed away." If I thought about it, I'd probably feel that way about aviation.

Congratulations. Wishing you a long and happy journey as you continue to fly and complete your instrument rating. For me, the instrument rating greatly increased opportunities to fly and the enjoyment of flying.

Best of luck.

Yes, congratulations. Over the years I've spoken to folks who started, and regretted never finishing, to get their license. I got my private in '73, than got out of flying for years as I pursued a new career. Later, got my commercial, multi-engine, instrument, etc. just because I could. Never made a dime at it. So I guess flying was my "Hookers and Blow" tooWink

Great going!!

Sorry, but you pushed one of my hot buttons. You got your pilot's Certificate......not license.

Dogs are licensed. pilots are certificated.
