Greetings all. Attempting to supplement/cut the cable cord and was wondering: if I chose to go whole house antenna route, can I, after disconnecting the cable altogether, connect the antenna to the outside cable box and then use my indoor cable outlets to connect to the antenna? I hope that makes sense. ========================================== Just my 2¢ ____________________________ Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right ♫♫♫

You should be able to repurpose the coax throughout the house as long as there aren't any cablco-specific devices in the way. And if there are, you can remove them and just connect the coax ends around them. If you have many TVs, you might need an amp or powered splitter to keep the signal up to each TV.

Exactly what I did a few years ago. The house we bought had dual cable & satellite coax connectors in each room, so it was easy to use the cable side to provide over-the-air TV to each room (eight total). The antenna is located in the attic. We did need a signal amplifier added to ensure adequate signal strength. I don't know the specifics of it since I hired a guy to do all the work. But I do know its located just before the splitter box to all the rooms. You will be amazed at the clarity of the over-the-air HD picture. It beats the compressed signal of cable by a mile. If you have long runs to each tv you will have to amp the signal. What I did when I cut the cable was get individual digital antennas for each tv. Looks decent and works great.

You must amplify the cleanest signal for best results. This is at the antenna. Antennaweb.org ------- Trying to simplify my life...

That is correct and what I did. You should have a booster/s already installed by the cable company. They left all that stuff so I simply unlpugged the main cable from outside to my splitter box outside then figured out which fed the coax on my office. Unplugged it added a barrel connector added the main cable company feed (still using their internet so needed a feed) to it and plugged my modem into the office wall coax. Then hooked my antenna to the splitter/booster where the main cable feed was installed and easy peasy free TVeasy from all coaxial outlets in the house minus the office. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad.
