| I am so sorry. The loss of a friend is never easy. I'm sure he was happy to have had a last conversation with you, and you he. It was good of his daughter to keep you in the loop. I've had 2 deaths in my family recently--a first cousin in December and a cousin by marriage last week; no one in the family bothered to tell me about either one, and I'd have been able to attend the funerals had I known. I'm glad that you at least had notice of his impending death. flashguy

| Wow. Pretty quick and pretty young, also. My condolences.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946. |

A day late, and a dollar short
| My condolences sir, I also agree it was good of his daughter to give you notice of his condition, allowing you to have that last conversation with him.

Old, Slow, but Lucky!
| It was good of his daughter to let you know. It is excellent that you made the call when you did and had the opportunity to have a good, long talk with him! I hope this doesn't sound crass, but it is even better that he passed the way he did... quickly from what sounds like a probable heart attack. Much preferable to suffering his way through cancer. God Bless him! Don

| I hate hearing about your friend but I'm really happy for you that you called him. Had you put that off you'd be kicking yourself in the ass for a long time. You can look back and remember that both of you had an enjoyable chat. |
