A good friend just became a US citizen. Pissed at him because he didn't tell us until after the ceremony. We did buy lunch next trip out on the bike.

Whatever you get them, I'd keep it classy. It's a great event in their lives.

American Eagle 2017 One Ounce Silver Proof Coin. $53.95.

I would not give a flag because that sort of implies an obligation to fly it.

I did this once for a contract install crew supervisor. It was actually a more emotional experience than I expected.

Some books that helped shape our Constitution. Thomas Paine's "The Rights of Man" is a good start.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

Good afternoon gang. There is a young girl in our office from Moldova that just became a US Citizen this morning. She's a nice girl and I would like to get her a little something as a congratulations since our office doesn't plan to do anything at all which is sad. I'm looking for some suggestions for a small token/gift for her. I was thinking maybe a Silver Dollar from 2017 or maybe a proof set from the mint. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Hopefully, someone was taking pictures of the Citizenship Ceremony. If you could get a photo of her being sworn in, have it framed with the 2017 Silver Dollar that’s been suggested, and a pin of crossed Moldova and USA flags.

From my own experience while working in DHS/ICE, I did witness these new citizenship ceremonies. Being native-born, we often lose our perspectives of just what it means to become an American citizen. She took the proper way to become an American, which in of itself, next to marriage and birth of a child, is the most momentous event in her young life.

Pass along congrats.
