Brett257Weird Car Noise Situation
We own a Honda Odyssey and had the front struts replaced and alignment done under warranty about 7,000 miles ago.
After the struts were replaced, we noticed a squeak/chirp when the car was driving over rough road, but not on smooth asphalt.
I thought it was noise coming from the struts, so I had the dealership look at it again to confirm there were no issues they could see.
The car was returned, but the noise persists.
Yesterday, I noticed that if I applied downward pressure on the steering while while driving the noise stopped. Applying upwards pressure caused the noise be reduced. Eliminating the downward/upward pressure caused the noise to return.
Therefore, I believe the noise is coming from the steering column, perhaps something needing a light lubrication or tightening.
Anyone have a guess at what might be causing this? It is incredibly annoying, so I'm hoping I can address it.

220-9erNothing in there that should need lube.
Any trim parts on the column touching the backside of the steering wheel?

egregoreExcept for the squeak (they usually clunk), this sounds like a steering intermediate shaft. This couples the bottom of the column to the steering gear (rack & pinion). It has a universal joint on each end and a slip joint that allows it to telescope. Any of those could have a bind in them. It should be accessible (but with some difficulty) under the dash.

Brett257Thanks for the information, you guys. I'll take a look at what you guys suggested.
Hopefully, I can get this sorted out.

NismoTry adjusting the steering wheel tilt and height in all directions while driving and see if it changes.
I have a car that some of the plastics inside rub when the wheel tilt is set a certain way. Usually more noise when the weather is really hot.
