The thread that I remember had a darker wood, in it and was much more like a cube.

After watching some vids,
Yes they do amplify , but !

If your phone sounds crappy, you just get louder crappy sound,
So
I guess this ( iny case)
Shan't be pursued any longer.

Plus all cell phones differ in size, so
One size does not fit all.
