JALLENWhen I went into town earlier, as I went over the train tracks, I noticed that the rails were huddled together to stay warm.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown December 27, 2017, 01:03 PM

I smiled when I read that. Only learned the term due to my Father in Law that was the 62nd Commander of the USS Constitution. I was floored when I was told the original story about the cannon balls

wishfull thinkerMy oldest grand-daughter is 5 and is in kindergarten. She lives a little north of Anchorage and when I was up there at Thanksgiving she was watching the outside temp and was grumping about how it was below 10 degrees and they weren't going to get to go outside for recess. They have rules, 10 and stay in.

pbslingerLeft Madison Wisconsin this morning at -10F. At -5 degrees at a rest stop in central Iowa I saw a guy in shorts and sandals with socks opening his trunk. Walking back to my car after bathroom stop, a trucker passed me in a T shirt. I said: "If it gets a little colder, you might want to put on a long sleeve shirt" "Naaaa!"

BB61Years ago, I was on a school trip to Southern California in late December early January. At the local motel, we were out swimming at night as it was in the 60s. People from CA were in winter coats and we were just walking around in our swimsuits. One night we got asked by a hotel guest if we were from Alaska.

OrgussFor whatever reason, if it's in the 30s, I'm fine. I work in shorts and a polo shirt. If it's in the 40s, I'm freezing and bundled up. 50 and above, I'm fine. I don't get it.
