I am a little biased because in 2006 I bought a 2001 Audi A4 Avant Quattro with the 2.8L. That car was an absolute blast to drive. The previous owner had put on adjustable Koni Coilovers and while at 190hp it was not blistering fast but it would run corners amazingly.
I bought it over a 2001 S4 with 25k more miles and a $10k+ price tag.

This video is great as Audi does make some of the best looking and baddest wagons on the planet. I wish I had the kind of coin to throw around this fella does and I’d have another Audi wagon.
Only thing I don’t like is the crackle tune (think that is what they call it) where it is super easy to get the car to spot flames and backfire.

I too am a closeted wagon fan. Just the other day, my wife and I were having the "if we win the lottery discussion" and what I'd have in the garage. Either the Audi RS6 or AMG wagon. Insane performance. Oh, and a 1959 Chevy wagon to match the 59 Impala I currently have.

Got to admire the guy's desire to drive the car he loves, even when gas in those countries are $8-10/gallon.

In 2007, I had a rental Audi wagon in northern France. Even as a diesel, I was able to cruise comfortably 100+ mph without much effort.

If money were no object, I'd own an RS6 Wagon or the like. Somethings always been cool about the grocery getter that hauls ass.

Back in the day I owned a 2000 Jetta with the 2.8L. Not the fastest car by any means, but it was a 3 pedal and that motor with exhaust and intake just sounded right to me.

I had the Volvo 850 wagon while I lived in Germany. Was good for over 140 on the autobahn, and cornered like it was on rails.

Loved that car. The inline 20 valve 5 with a 5 speed sounded great, and was fun to drive.

Great topic!

I mentioned a high-performance wagon to TLG (The Lovely Girlfriend) just last weekend.

That earned me a stern look and a very calm, "Um... NO." Big Grin

God bless America.

Dad had a 2001 BMW 540iT wagon, with an M package. It was not a full M5, but 8cyl with a light supercharger I guess. Made about 375hp. Blue with tan interior. Totally hauled ass. Smoked Mustangs and Camaros all the time with it.

The new volvo wagon looks bad ass as well.

I'm a Mercedes guy, so it'd be either a W211 E55 or a W213 E63 for me.
But only because we never got a C Class AMG wagon here. I'd adore a W205 C43 wagon.

I've always liked sport wagons. Back in mid 1980s I drove a 4wd Suburban and we bought the 1st Honda Civic wagon in our area - Called it a moon car. Also had a Volvo 142 wagon.

Then in 2002 I bought mama a Lexus IS300 sportwagon w Toyotas famous 3L inline 6 cyl. Fun car that we kept for a few years. After that a 2011 Acura TSX wagon that is still going strong as our nieces daily.

Loved the 1st generation IS300. My aunt had a sedan with a manual.
Shame the IS & TSX wagons weren't offered with a stick.

Don’t rule out a VW AllTrack wagon, made up through 2019. The 1.8 with a tune can be quite powerful. Can get with a 6spd manual or DSG. My wife lost hers to a flood back in February. Great cars.
Also… the day that VW announces they are bringing the Golf R Estate to the US, I will be one of the first to put down a deposit. Take my money.

Not high performance by any means but someone took a Toyota Crown Signa and made it look amazing! That would be a nice fuel sipping daily.

I drove a DSG Alltrack when I was shopping back in 2018. They were still too bew to have any deals, but it drove well, like a slightly less sporty GTI.

Shoot, my pick is easy. 1961 Impala SS 409 Convertible. They were a late in the year production model and only about 140 were made. Only a very few convertibles.

Paul Eklund's '97 Primative Racing Outback was always an inspiration back when I was working on my Subies. Thanks for the reminder thread. My goals have changed since then, like just getting my '97 to pass emissions Roll Eyes

While we were stationed in Germany from ‘97-‘01, we had a ‘92 VW Passat wagon that I thoroughly enjoyed. It had been exported from the States by a fellow service member, then purchased by a local national, then we bought it from him. He had put low-profile German rims and tires on it, but since I had shipped my truck to Germany and wanted to ship it back, if I’d wanted to bring the Passat back to the States also I would have had to pay the shipping AND replace the German-spec rims and tires to meet US DOT specs in order to re-import it. I couldn’t afford to do that at the time, so, sadly, I sold it to another service member in Germany. It was fire engine red with black interior and a 5-speed manual. It was a blast to drive in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. I really miss that car. Especially after seeing the pics in this thread. I wish I had a picture of that Passat.
