Local radio is reporting that Coach Pitino and the UofL athletics director will probably be fired today. We shall see.

Jurich was fired today and apparently he refused to fire Pitino, subsequently Pitino was fired.

UofL has to protect itself from the death penalty, they were on probation already for several NCAA violations, this is major

According to the FBI report UofL was University 10, let that sink in, 10....

Technically, not quite yet.

"Pitino has been placed on unpaid administrative lead, with [interim UofL President] Costel saying they are reviewing his employment. Jurich will be placed on paid administrative leave and Bowen has been suspended indefinitely and will be withheld from all practices and workouts."

Costel is the interim President after the discovery of "irregularities" in the transfer of up to $100Million from the UofL Foundation to former President James Ramsey and others, it is believed through the Athletic Department, which resulted in Ramsey's firing.

They are fired, the university rules require a 10 day waiting period as does Pitinos contract before firing is official and it must be done by the board not the President. Jurich requires 30 days.

They are gone, technically fired no, but they are fired bet your bottom dollar..

Pitino may not have known about the funds for hookers or the agent and shoe company that was paying off families to get players, it appears that it's sub coaches that were the real dealers in the game.

He'll get the blame though...

Do---or do not.
There is no try.

When he was coaching the Dallas Cowboys, Barry Switzer was once asked whether he liked coaching in the NFL better than in college football. He immediately said, "College---there's no salary cap."

Not against that either, perhaps the parents as well because at some point the kids need to be made examples of to the others.

It could be that Jurich and Pitino had zero knowledge of this, it's not impossible to conceive considering the number of coaches and administrators on staff. However they are at the top of the heap so they get the knife.
