Fighting the good fight
| Not (just) bad Autotune... Apparently she was drunk: https://apnews.com/article/ing...a168c6d8901697f2108dquote: Singer Ingrid Andress says she was drunk during panned MLB anthem performance, will get treatment
After a widely panned performance of the U.S. national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby, country singer Ingrid Andress apologized Tuesday and said she was drunk.
“I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”
The MLB is not commenting, spokesperson Matt Bourne said.
A representative for Andress said there will be no additional comment at this time.

Little ray of sunshine
| Yes, she now says she was drunk, which is no excuse, is it?
The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything. |

I'll use the Red Key
| Well that was no home run! Ingrid Andress singing the Star Mangeled Banner was F'd by autotune.

| Better to have pled non compos mentis, or just slunk away quietly, than use being drunk for an excuse. Not knowing who she is, I looked her up. It didn't take long for whoever edits Wikipedia to put this incident in there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...ndress#Personal_life Also, ironically, that one of her singles is called "Wishful Drinking." |

come and take it
| I knew autotune was a recording thing, and it would expose singers when they tried to sing live. Biggest example I remember is rockband Imagine Dragons being exposed during halftime of College National Championship game. The singer was just awful, and sounded nothing like the recording. I did not know autotune was being used for live shows, although that makes sense. Well now she's running to rehab. Oh and her career might be over before it ever got going....
I have a few SIGs.

| She should have just lied and said she was too ill to perform. At least she wouldn’t have butchered the anthem and her reputation in two minutes. |

safe & sound
| quote: I think to be called a singer you must actually be able to sing
That used to be the way it was, and often why those who sang weren't necessarily that attractive. You simply had to be a good singer, and due to the "rarity" of good singers, looks didn't matter. Today a computer can fix the singing part, so they want good looking people for better marketing. |
