Post those Good things that happen in Life, make it our Happy Place Thread
There are still good things that happen in the world, and sometimes we get lost in the mud pit of negativity from politics, police work, criminals, broadcasters...

So this thread is to post things that make you smile, happy, and remember that there are good things still in life.

Lets keep the comments out and just post winning things we read, see, happen.

Best thing that happened to me recently was my daughter announcing she was pregnant with her 5th child. The more the merrier!

I transplanted two papaya trees from pots into the ground. Even if the papayas do not ripen the green fruit can be used somewhat like zucchini in soup or curries.

Papayas. I have/had 3. They grow extremely well. Like weeds. lol. Keep trimming them short. They will get freakin tall and then it is a bear to harvest.

Aside from the wonderful family stuff, lego guns make me happy. I love that guns have become items that we can configure day to day if we wanted, with a wide range of after market support. I can change optics, mag capacity, stocks, grip modules and a whole host of other options such as lights and holsters.

While society can suck the life out of you, life is pretty damn good.

Wife says we need a kayak and I find on with pedals on clearance 40 miles away. I'm almost to the store and they call to tell me they can't find the pedal kit. I offer them half what I think it's worth as just a kayak sight unseen. I get to the store, look it over, and say I'll take it for what I offered. They say no, but they'll take $100 less than I offered.

58 years on the planet and that's the first time anyone has countered my first offer with a lower number. It was a happy drive home.

Got permanent telecommuter status this week to remote work. A big step for me to get out of Texas.

Six months ago I was hospitalized for five days. Each day since is a step forward.

My oldest son got a new job offer on Tuesday.

He skipped college after graduation and just started busting his ass. Got laid off at the start of covid. Said dad, I don't want to sit around and collect unemployment. (Huge smile on my face) Found a new job, got promoted. And now this oppportuinity!

He's only 27, has purchased his own place, and will be earning six figures.

All you want as a parent is for your kids to be independent, health, happy contributors to society. Both of my boys exceed all of my expectations.

Cheers~

Did a 20+ mile overnight hike with my brother and oldest son this past weekend up in Michigan. Beautiful weekend, nice trails, and a good night's sleep in the woods. Hard to beat.

Years ago my brother walked out on his wife and 3 kids. His daughter was about 5 and the twin boys were 1, he has never had any contact with the kids since and they have been raised by their single mother. Over the years I have stayed as close with the kids as I could. Holidays between their house and ours and visiting when possible.

This past weekend I went to Athens GA to watch one of my nephews graduate from the university of Georgia with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. I sat with his older sister who, 4 years ago, walked on the same stage and received the same degree.

I could not be more proud of all three of them.

When you're mired in a deep drought, this is a welcome sight--even on May 5th. Good, wet snow and a second wave of precip (snow) coming tonight. A return to more seasonal temperatures on Thursday.

Just got back from a retirement celebration month in Maui with the wife. We found out how much we miss our daughter, son it law, and two grand daughters. A great month where we all got closer. The wife is working on a deal where we get a condo for Jan through Mar. That will be even better than one month.
