I thought the quote from North Carolina was hilarious! "Y'all leave Ohio alone. They wouldn't know. They weren't there." BackwardsPlaneOhioOnPlate ... stirred anti-clockwise.

That's pretty funny The backwards-flying Wright airplane: "America is at that awkward stage. OK...I didn't get it at first. After reading the article, I see how "flying backwards" is being construed here. Nothin' like tryin' to push a rope, eh? "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

The reason the Wright Flyer flew and others were failing was because of their propeller. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

Fighting the good fight |
Yep. Contrary to most traditional plane designs, with a tailplane positioned behind the main wings and propellers on the front, the Wright Flyer was a "canard" design with a foreplane ahead of the main wings and pusher propellers at the rear. So I could totally see how a large number of folks throughout the plate approval process, used to envisioning traditional biplanes, could overlook that. Here's the original canard design, as used on a number of the Wright Brothers' initial planes: Here's a later Wright Brothers plane, the Model B, that is in the more traditional configuration, although still with pusher props.

I think why is they were the first to understand an efficient propeller was a rotating wing. When everything is barely adequate for flight, everything has to be Wright!

So nobody in a long string of approvals had ever been to the smithsonian and saw the real plane, never saw the ancient footage or just never read any history ever ? Or they just didn’t care and rubber stamped it which based on my observation of most .gov employees is what likely happened. The SC DOT social media manager just trolling them is icing on the cake. And 35000 error plates ? How many plates a week are made ? That seems like a lot before being noticed.

I appreciate and respect the achievement that is being recognized and honored that is integrated into the overall state brand plate design, and in this day and age when feelings are easily hurt, inclusivity is a major concern ...but that is one silly looking plate. Cartoonish. The governor's association to the historical event combined with his direct involvement in the plate design makes the mistake even more humorous.
That would be NC, not SC. You don't, by chance, happen to work for the Ohio DOT do you?

The main reason is because they achieved flight in NC, not OH although OH still clings to it. SIG556 Classic P220 Carry SAS Gen 2 SAO SP2022 9mm German Triple Serial P938 SAS P365 FDE Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it"

Thank you Very little |
Well it could be a matter of perception, those looking for problems see it as backwards, others who designed see it flying forward toward the center logo, back then there were no flying billboard/banners.

I'm more concerned about the kid on the swing hitting that poor dog. Sloppy work all the way around.

Ha. Oops. No I don’t. I was sitting in a McDonald’s having coffee and trying to get my eyes to recover enough to drive home after having my eyes dilated this AM at the eye doc and I with my old man sunglasses on was distracted by other things.

The Ohio DPS and the Ohio DMV were involved in the design. That tells you everything. Most bureaucrats are useless halfwits and those folks are damn sure no exception. This could have been avoided quite easily, with just the slightest research.
