ITYM "inert?"

Anyway, my understanding was alcohol breaks down the virus' protective layer of fat, which is what "kills" it.

ISTM what the aloe primarily accomplishes is to make the alcohol more spreadable--and possibly retard evaporation?

According to the science chick in the video, straight alcohol hardens the lipid shell, actually protecting the virus more.

Oops! I missed that. Will have to watch the vid again, and spread the word to the peeps at work who are using straight alcohol on their hands.

God bless America.

So now i'm germ-laden and covered with sap.

I had an old school independent pharmacy order me some 99% a while ago. But it’s also what I use to clean Gun parts

The WHO had this posted.

19 oz 99% isopropyl alcohol
1 oz 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/2 oz Glycerol (vegetable glycerin)

I had everything in house, I keep a small bottle on me when I go out. As far as I know it does what's supposed to.

Picked up some 'hand sanitizer' today it's just 80% alcohol. Also picked up some aloe vera burn stuff and spray bottles. Plan is to put a little of the aloe vera stuff and a lot of the 'sanitizer' in spray bottles. Thinking 80/20ish to end up at ~65% alcohol to other stuff mix. Hopefully I'm doing it right?

For those with Ollie's near you you can buy some of this slightly overpriced stuff at $10 a liter.

The second and third ingredients look so small in comparison, why add them? Put another way, is 70% alcohol effective without adding anything?

They had a display of that at the checkout of our local grocery store & my wife picked up a bottle. She has some small spray bottles & thought it'd be good to quickly disinfect our hands, door handles, steering wheel, etc, when we're out & about. I wouldn't want to get pulled over by a cop after using it though, because it smells like you just took a bath in booze.Smile

My wife has made some using 91% alcohol and the Aloe Vera After Sun lotion. Seems to work and smells great. “A little Dab will Do Ya!”

Slight thread drift, but if you're making it for the wipes, using regular paper towels sucks. They fall apart, just terrible.

Use the blue Scott brand shop towels on the roll, very similar to regular paper towels, but these don't fall apart. They can even be reused, washed or not, they are quite durable.

You'll find the blue Scott shop towels at Costco, Same, wallymart, auto parts stores, etc.

Supposed to be ok, but is hard on your skin.

That one probably smells good enough to ingest.
