| Peace through superior firepower |
Beginning in 2023 and up until today, I've made it abundantly clear that I despise the NFL and all it stands for, and that I will not tolerate even the acknowledgement of the existence of the Super Bowl. Until last night, it had not occurred to me to reverse this harsh decision. It may not make any sense to you, but the thread The Heidi Game is what got me to thinking. I could explain this, and my explanation might even make sense, but suffice to say, I have had a change of heart. In my capacity as administrator of this forum, I feel the need to read all threads, or at least open them and glance at the content. But, when you get right down to it, I don't really need to do this with such a well-behaved group of members, and I say this to you in all sincerity, no sarcasm at all. When the inevitable issues occur, members do a good job of using the tool provided to report their concerns to me. I'll just refrain from opening any NFL threads unless I get a report of trouble. So, I want to say to you that even though my feelings about the obscenity that is the NFL are as strong as ever and will never fade by any noticeable degree, I regret the prohibition on the subject. Members can feel free to discuss the Super Bowl, the commercials, the game, the NFL, what have ya. It hasn't been fair to the members here who like pro football, and who have never meant any harm in discussing the game, so now that's all gone. I feel good about this decision. This is a permanent state of affairs. There will be no going back to the prohibition, which, I guess, was kinda stupid to begin with.

That is awesome Para. I get the whole nfl deal. I really do. But as a Seahawk fan it was an awesome year. Especially sticking it to the Rams. I loved Roman Gabriel as a kid. I don't think there will be many threads on pro football. But be nice for members who like football in general. The whole college mess is worse than pro right now, doh. Thanks, Para. I have to admit, I do watch some NFL games if I am in the mood. The wife is a huge Chief's fan. She was born and raised near Kansas City and saw them lose to the Packers in the Super Bowl somewhere in the mid 60's. As far as the half time show goes, I don't think I've watched one since the Stones were there. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

Para, I don't read or participate in many forums. In fact SIGforum is the only one I find much value in and check in every day. Thank you for the OP in this thread. So well stated and coming from a position where you clearly gave it some serious thought was so much appreciated. That said, I am a fan of the NFL to some degree and an avid Denver Broncos fan for sure. I've missed very few Broncos games in my 68 years and am looking forward to watching them in the next Super Bowl and being a part of the discussion of that event here. Thank you for hosting the SIGforum. These pages keep me informed and entertained like no where else. _______________________ “There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life.” ― Frank Zappa

Yes, thank you, Para. I'm not happy with the NFL either, but it is what it is. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor
