The Brits keep blaming the tool, not the wielder, thus they first did away with firearms, then added pellet guns, knives, etc. Still violent lawbreakers break laws and commit violence. And still they do not get it--even unto the point of considering banning pointy kitchen knives.

In Chicago they're "graduating" from knives and bricks and the like, to handguns and now rifles. Still "it's the tools, not the tool abusers."

Think about it though. Rifles were responsible for upwards of 50 deaths in 18 months. 50 out of 1000 homicides or so in that period?

I've come to the conclusion that the hoplophobes don't really care if folks are being killed or not, they just don't wanna hear it. If they were really concerned with saving lives and stopping crime, they would start looking elsewhere, because clearly banning guns isn't doing anything, except adding another charge on to be bargained away when some shithead gets caught.

I'm surprised they haven't banned pellet stoves yet, because the name has "pellet" in it. "Do anything except address the real problem" is what politicians do, both sides of the pond, and I agree with you that it's tiresome.

Banning rifles would injure home defense more than anything else in Chicago. Not a lot of liquor stores get knocked over by guys with rifles. In home defense, if I shoot somebody with a 9mm, they're going know about it, but if I shoot them with the 30-06, they won't know about it for long.

It must be all those Brooklynites moving into Chicago with their lever actions.

They would solve a lot of problems in Chicago if they would just ban breathing.

Is there any data on actual criminal use of rifles preceding, during, and after the AWB? I know TV and Movies made it seem like every gang was fighting with full auto AK's, Uzi's, Mac-10's back then...

It is the idiots using those few rifles to do damage, When I went into the army, back in 1955, we slept in single room barracks. That is one big room that housed 2 squads of a platoon. Those old wooden barracks. Down the center aisle there were rifle racks, and each slot had an M1 Garand in it. They were not locked. And not once did one of those rifles move out of its slot. I sleep with a loaded AR in my bedroom, and have yet to hear it try to get out of the room when the lights are out!

I used to think that such idiocy from the LSM was an attempt to force their will upon those of us who had a working brain.

Now I am convinced that they are just too FUCKING STUPID TO BREATHE WITHOUT HELP!!!!
